Tanzy Clutched October 26, 2004 Share October 26, 2004 How do you run in the brakes after the rotors have been skimmed and new pads installed? Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
Yeobh 4th Gear October 26, 2004 Share October 26, 2004 To bed in the pad and rotor try some very hard braking. Too much soft and slow braking may cause rotor to glaze and form hard spots
Tanzy Clutched October 26, 2004 Author Share October 26, 2004 I understand that the bedding in of new pads is usually a series of hard brakes to near zero until fade is felt. The pads have instructions for that but what I am wondering if this can be done on a new disc or newly skimmed disc as I don't want to damage/warp or make it squeaky later. Yeobh 4th Gear November 5, 2004 Share November 5, 2004 Frankly, if the discs is skimmed too thin or not well hone, the chances of hot spot formation is high due to cutting tool marks and slow heat transfer. ↡ Advertisement
