Guyver 1st Gear March 30, 2002 Share March 30, 2002 I got a quote from Fong Kim ..... the guy Jason quote me that to add a straight thru for my catalystic convertor portion is $50.... to open up the original one and remove those stuffs inside.... is $75...... can anyone advise on this? I've changed my air intake to a cone type..... dunno what brand...... kind of feel that i'm losing abit of low end torque...... so heard from this other guy from this forum that he changed to a direct air intake but he change his exhaust to a staright thru one also.....and he maintain his low torque...... can somebody help!! Guyver 1st Gear March 30, 2002 Share March 30, 2002 How much did u pay for changing your exhaust to a straight thru one? Can your car pass the inspection now without changing anything back to normal? I got a fren that sat in my car ..... after testing abit... he told me that my car got back pressure... he suggested change to 2" exhaust.... with a resonator (for making quieter). I really want to make my exhaust straight thru.... but i'm fed up with the hassle that need to restore all things before going for inspection..... so really hope i can have as original as possible...... can pass inspection good enough liao.... Turbobrick Neutral Newbie March 31, 2002 Share March 31, 2002 Changing your Cat to a straight thru will rob your low end even more! The cone air filter may allow more air into your engine but do U rev hard everytime U drive? For a daily drive, the stock filter or a K&N filter in the original airbox is sufficient. I paid $120 for it. Dunno abt the inspection bit cos my car still have two more years before inspection. But I made the tail pipe design abt the same as the stock. Stock is two pipe down but now, mine one pipe down. I'll go for the inspection as normal and go back to installer if it fails. It's a $30 job anyway... I think it's the open pod airfilter that's robbing you of your low-end. Happens to my Lancer thus I go for K&N panel replacement nowadays.
Guyver 1st Gear April 1, 2002 Share April 1, 2002 What's "CAT"? i don't think my car has a CAT? heard this term from my fren before... he's driving honda city... the Vtec.... i saw him point the CAT that stick to the original extractor......
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie April 1, 2002 Share April 1, 2002 The CAT is a catalytic converter which converts toxic exhaust emissions to harmless gases. More info at http://www.howstuffworks.com/catalytic-converter.htm ↡ Advertisement
