hi trex, when u drove yr old city, did u start from rl5w20 from day 1? u used it until what mileage?

i'm wondering should i change rl5w20 to amsoil 0w20, drving a colt plus 1.5l non turbo, 2yr old car with 19k mileage nia.. should i stick w rl or change over to amsoil as amsoil is lighter than rl. what would u use for my case?

No cos i bought my City(around 20k km) 2nd hand in 2002, then i used 5w30 until around 40-50k km. Only when i start bringing in w20 oil then i start using it until around 220-230k km when i scrap my City. I think i had used w20 oil for around 6yr 180+ km.

As for switching, it's up to you actually, both oil will cause no harm to the engine in any way. I would suggest you try each brand out, see if there's any differences in power, smoothness or FC.

thanks trex.

i think i will try amsoil dominator 5w20, as thin as 100% 0w20, but offer better protection than 100%. and its thinner than RL5w20 right? personally i dun mind changing oil at every 5000 or so. Just wonder maximum usgae distance of dominator?

Dominator is somewhere around 5k km OCI.

Another credit to Amsoil. !!

My scooby has been using it since day 1. Average oil change 10-15k.

Love this oil so much.. has been a happy customer for 4 yrs! Never thinking of changing brand.

No, dominator is not recommended cause its only meant for racing use!!

I have mailed Amsoil regarding dominator and they said its only meant for track use, not daily driving.

The oil is not designed to last for long distance (meant to last 1 race distance only).

What did you suffer? Poor FC? Amsoil is known to be on the thicker side. You could use 30wt oil instead.

mainly laggy response....thus leading to poorer FC....i thk the biggest issue is w the "heavier" feel so now i def hv to step much harder to achieve expressway speed...

i din know abt it being thicker...when i got it fr alex, the only 5w40 avail is the european formula bottle...and he said shdnt b a prob....anyw small thing la, will change out soon.... [cool]

i using the same oil on my picanto. no such problem. it is way smoother than helix ultra. i slight smoother but rougher then Redline 5w40.

this oil is good. i wonder, is ur oil over filled?
