Karie Neutral Newbie August 26, 2008 Share August 26, 2008 I have used redline and RP in my previous ride. In my current ride, I've used Shell and currently cxxxxxe. I find cxxxxxe 5w30 as good as RP or redline, with shell (no-no). Some prefer this brand of oil some prefer another brand of oil basically is just the 'BRANDING' that ppls think is GOOD.....to me all sama sama anyway u still need to drain out the 'GOOD' oil @ 10K interval Bro, extract from manual: Red Line lubricants contain polyol ester basestocks, the only lubricants which can withstand the tremendous heat of modern jet engines. Currently, using redline 5w30 for the 1st time. Is amsoil really better? Ya if driving porsche or ferrari maybe can consider to withstand the tremendous heat of modern jet engine ↡ Advertisement

inlinesix Hypersonic August 29, 2008 Share August 29, 2008 (edited) Definitely more biz. However, tis advice was given to Members of BMW Club Malaysia during Lube Oil Forum. In addition, it was given by Castrol Technical Services Manager. I know what is BMW OCI. However, in view of individual driving pattern & local weather condition, it should b adjusted accordingly. Go to BMW-SG. There r a number of E90 owners encounter engine oil problem following BMW OCI. I drive a blue propeller & will change my oil & oil filter around 8k. My oil sump is 7L. My monthly avg mileage is about 1km. Mainly 5 - 10km point to point. It will result in insufficient heat buildup to evaporate any water content lube oil pick up. I m not rich but it is wiser to give d engine frequent fresh oil than develop long term problem. I intend to drive it at less till its 10 yr old. Trex101 3rd Gear November 2, 2008 Share November 2, 2008 Depends on the type of Amsoil. The XL series are 12k km/6-month oil change intervals and the 100% series 24k km/12-month oil change intervals.
