I'd still go for Mazda cars for their good handling, solid chasis, good suspension and great looks. Afterall, they're still made in Japan. I don't really have confidence in our Thai neighbours. Also, Hondas and Mitsubishi cars don't appeal to me in any way.

We used to own the older model 323 and it was a good car with superb handling. As for power, low end is not so good but at mid range, the engine makes a good roar and power is pretty good.

Anyway, what's most important is you test drive the car and decide for yourself what you like best. I wouldn't pay so much attention to what others say as everyone has different expectations and standards. [nod]

The OMV will hit you when you sell before 10 years.

In 2-3 years' time, facelift model will be out, hitting your resale price.

In 3-5 years' time, the resale value will be scrap value + some peanuts. This is when you'll suffer from the low OMV and extremely high markup by dealer.

================================================================================

=

Doesnt that apply to all new cars? Anyway, OMV for Civic for eg is 18k, 2k above basic MZ3. How much diffrerence will it make?

Wont that happen to all cars again? New Civic will be out soon, and surely current CIvic will get hit.

Also, if wanna talk about resale value, conti cars would be even worse hit.

Mazda 3 is a good choice [thumbsup] if you don't 'Hiam' the slower pickup & average FC (Not that i'm going to own one soon so as to "Lau Wang Mai Gua, Zi Mai Zi Kua'. Currently, Mazda 3 basic is @ $ 73,988.00, it's consider quite a good buy as it is made in Japan, better interior looks as well as exterior looks as compare to the other 1.6L class currently IMHO. Handling wise is up to individual. Every Jap car will have facelift within the range of 2-3 years definately so if you really think so hard in this way, then you might as well 'Mai Buey Chia', take bus cos you don't have to worry about "FACELIFT" thus affecting your resale value. Some accessories will be sun film, chrome exhaust tip (For Basic, it doesn't comes with)... and take note that $73,988.00 is before the interest rebate thingy. If you need a good SE, i can recommend mine to you cos i think he's really a good one unlike those is just interested to get you sign the bottom line & hack care you after that. Above are just my opinion so no offence to anyone. Cheers. [:)]

"Mazda, a jap car with "conti feel".......... "

Mazda is a japanese car with a japanese feel. Sorry to disappoint dude. Not one Mazda I know has a "Conti Feel" in terms of NVH, ride or interior goodies. Nope, not even close.

Maybe Legacy folks or those that have tested it can comment? [rolleyes]

It seems to be the only one that looks rather promising. [:/]

A little correction, don't mislead others ah... [rolleyes]

its not good handling lah... its just reasonable. the chassis is solid though, tested and proven many times. [:p][:p][:p]

as for the roar, that's because the sound proofing is next to non-existent.

as for power, any 1.6 manual has power when you step hard hard. [laugh]

You velly biased hor. [rolleyes]

Speaking of facelift...

What's cooking in Mazda Japan's production line does not equate to what's served up in Singapore.

Everyone says the Mazda6 MPS is coming. Ya the bodykit is coming as a facelift for the Mazda6, NOT THE CAR. Not the 4WD turbo thingy. [:/]

Yupz! But US version should be 2.0/2.3L right? Singapore's only 1.6L...

there're a couple of PI-ed 2.3 Mazda3s running around. [shocked]
