Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 25, 2002 Share November 25, 2002 Hi, Just want to know which white colour bulbs you all recommended? I heard that Philips headlight bulbs are better but not sure which series to get for white light? Is it Crystal Vision or Vision Plus or Premium? Do let me know your recommendations, thanks! ↡ Advertisement

Turbobrick Neutral Newbie November 25, 2002 Share November 25, 2002 Vision plus and Premium are high output yellow bulbs, only Cystal Vision and Blue Vision are whitish-blue in output.
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 26, 2002 Author Share November 26, 2002 Thanks Gavin, I think I will get the Crystal Vision instead!

Lightspeed Clutched November 26, 2002 Share November 26, 2002 take note that so far only the Blue Vision and Vision Plus is LTA friendly (almost typed BLUR Vision )
Mondeo Neutral Newbie November 26, 2002 Share November 26, 2002 I think only Vision plus is LTA friendly. Blue vision maynot be, correct me if wrong!
Lightspeed Clutched November 26, 2002 Share November 26, 2002 Blue Vision also approved... Went to Macdonalds and saw they photocopied out the LTA letter and pasted at the Philips bulb section for customers to see Only Vision Plus and Blue Vision is LTA friendly
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 27, 2002 Author Share November 27, 2002 So Crystal Vision is not LTA Friendly or approved lah?
GDIzen Neutral Newbie November 27, 2002 Share November 27, 2002 That's because Blue Vision is still slightly yellow in colour after operating for half an hour. It seems in Europe, totally white colour is not street legal unless the light comes out from Xenon lamps. That explains the slightly yellow tint even when called 'Blue Vision'. That's what I was told by Tye Soon - the distributor of Phillips bulbs
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 27, 2002 Author Share November 27, 2002 Do you know what is the price for the Crystal Vision from Tye Soon? Anyone can enlighten me on the price or try Crystal Vision before? How is the brightness compared to the Blue Vision?
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 27, 2002 Author Share November 27, 2002 I read over the magazine that the KAZ Hyper White light bulb offers near to the HID kind of light bulbs, just don't know how much it cost? Anyone have any idea about this?
Aha8 Neutral Newbie November 27, 2002 Share November 27, 2002 Last check tye soon 1 week ago, vision plus $30~35 (yellow but v good projection... true HID would be excellent, imho) blue vision w/ position bulb $55~60 ('white' ok lah, projection is good) crystal vision $65~70 ('whiter' but projection poor) They have setup for different bulb so u can see the difference... many moons ago, i ask LTA VE dept and they do not approve the white light (or put it another way, not mandatory.. me also not sure what he was trying to say...). But because luxury cars have HID, so cannot be double standard where inspection is concern...
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 27, 2002 Author Share November 27, 2002 Thanks for your info? Have you heard of the Kaz Hypher White bulb or the PIAA brand kind of white bulb? Anyone else ever used these 2 types of light bulb before, do give me your comments, thanks!
Aha8 Neutral Newbie November 28, 2002 Share November 28, 2002 (edited) Sorry, no idea. Motoring mag did review the PIAA and probably whiter than blue vision but commented the projection is not as good, so its more to showoff without practical improvement over stock loh... Aha8 Neutral Newbie November 28, 2002 Share November 28, 2002 BTW, I find that those white ones dun last long, even the blue vision which supposed to last 3x longer than normal white bulb only lasted 1yr 3mths when 1 kaput and the other one showing the filament 'going' already. Previous to this, the cheapo white @ ~$20/pair survived ~ 9 mths. I read on philip site mentioned the lifespan is greatly affected by the voltage. While the test the buld at 13+V, an increase in 4% voltage will shorten the lifespan by a whopping 40%... i think most of the alternators are charging at ~14V... maybe explain the short lifespan. Anyway, I have changed mine to vision plus, yellow, brighter, cheaper and pretty good coverage (esp on the side), and i'll see how long it last... Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 28, 2002 Author Share November 28, 2002 Ok, thanks for your sharing. Probably I can try the crystal vision and Kaz Hypher White then can share with you all! ↡ Advertisement
