No the sound test is not arbitrary, it is recorded by a sound meter. The inspector is looking at the process board and it indicate a "x" for sound testing.

For a trained eye, hand punch numbers can be very easily detect. All original engine numbers are machine punched.

I know a Ah-Pei kanna fine 5k for upgrading the Engine for 1.3 to 1.4. That happened something 5-6year back and it was published in the paper.

 

Eventhough the Engine Number tag was fabricated, somehow he was caught...

 

Maybe check with Vicom and LTA on how they check them..

 

On the charges , it said the Ah-Pei cheat Road Tax..kanna fined. Maybe it maybe money again.. If you pay tax.. maybe nothing happen ... i dun know [crazy]

Legally, you can replace an engine on condition the engine is purchased from the authorised car importer. The replacement engine should be of the same BHP as the original on and must come with the original test certificate from the factory.You will have to put up papers by authorised auto engineers or certified person from any inspection centres to get LTA approval. After the replacement the vehicle must be inspected again.
