Chris_ck Neutral Newbie December 14, 2002 Share December 14, 2002 Fact or Myth? A bigger car battery is better for the car than your normal car battery? I read about it somewhere before but forgot about it. Of course your engine compartment need to have space for the bigger battery ↡ Advertisement
Koolaba 1st Gear December 14, 2002 Share December 14, 2002 In your context, does bigger battery mean higher amperage?
Vtim 3rd Gear December 14, 2002 Share December 14, 2002 If your car is loaded with ICE, then it will be better to change the stock battery to one with higher ampere/hour
Phalanx Neutral Newbie December 14, 2002 Share December 14, 2002 Just wanna ask those batt experts out there: Let's say I have two batteries, one is rated at 60AH 280A while the other is rated at 63AH 480A. So which is better and why? (Besides the higher ratings...what does it mean?)
Chris_ck Neutral Newbie December 14, 2002 Author Share December 14, 2002 Yup i mean higher amp and i gather the physical size of the battery will be bigger also right?
Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 15, 2002 Share December 15, 2002 IMO, a bit of extra amp wouldn't hurt. Just don't get one that's lower amperage than stock. Generally, most ppl start to ADD electronics on their car like ICE, various meters, extra lights, etc so additional power is needed. For me, my recommended amperage is 66 but I use a 72 amp battery. Of course, you've gotta take the size of the battery into consideration. No point getting a big, big one if it doesn't fit!

Turbobrick Neutral Newbie December 15, 2002 Share December 15, 2002 (edited) Firstly your stock alternator must be able to charge up a bigger battery compared to stock. Secondly, a slight upgrade (like one rating up) is fine, the car may start easier and can possibly last longer in even of headlight left on when the engine is off. This does not mean we all go out and start buying marine batteries Too much is not always better Edited December 15, 2002 by Turbobrick
Chris_ck Neutral Newbie December 15, 2002 Author Share December 15, 2002 Yup i agree. Too much of a good thing is not always good. As the wise always practise moderation ↡ Advertisement
