Chevro Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Further wrap-up the rubberised insulator with Alumnium Foil--That is great.
Spango Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Hi, I am interested in doing that too, but where is the aircon pipe?
Hatchet Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Which way is better, (a) wrap aluminium foil on piping, than cover aluminium foil with rubber insulation tube? (b) wrap insulation tube on piping, than cover insulation tube with aluminium foil? Any differences? Other than looks?
Spango Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Or © wrap aluminium foil on piping, then cover aluminium foil with rubber insulation tube, then cover insulation tube with aluminium foil again...
Chevro Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 I think should 1)put on insulation tube then 2) add aluminium cover. I see you worry about the cosmic and durable of the aluminium cover. I would try whether alumium is worth to put on. If better, I add. Need to consult to Brot Tan.
Newsman 1st Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 1st layer is to wrap Rubberised Insulator over the pipe that carry the cold refrigirant. DO NOT REMOVE PIPE OR PIPE JOINST UNLESS U R A TRAIN AIR CON TECH! 2nd layer wrap Aluminium Foil over Insulator.....this is the correct order. The Rubber Insulator is to keep the Refrigirant at the coolest temperature to cool the Air to 15-18 degree before going into your Car cabin. The Aluminium foil helped to prevent condensation on the insulator & piping. That was taught in my short Air Con course. Hope i remember them right...U may want to double check with SA. Newsman 1st Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 The pipe carry super cool...minus 40 degree Refrigirant. U can feel the coolness on this pipe within Engine Compactment. Best to feel it in the morning B4 starting the Engine.
Botak Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Ya. If without the aluminium foil, there is a risk of catching fire for the rubber insulator when the compartment is heated up.
Chevro Neutral Newbie May 5, 2005 Share May 5, 2005 (edited) Oh, that why I saw my pipe behind the engine all exposed, definitely will reduce the air con power, it is very hot there . How come the car is not covered?! Edited May 5, 2005 by Chevro

Phelan 1st Gear May 10, 2005 Share May 10, 2005 Just go to any hardware shop and ask for armaflex insulation, 25mm thick, which is used for commercial aur-cons. Then wrap the armaflex with aluminium foil.
