Supersonic

maybe yr fren added oil or petrol additives? was the oil changed at the recommended levels? if the answer is no and yes, dun see how SA can make anyone pay for the repairs.

SA can make anyone pay if its proven that the fault is not caused by their design or manufacturing. All drivers have different style of driving and if its proven to be an isolated case of poor driving habit, why not? The human factor caused it, not the car.

A simple analogy would be someone smashing into the rear of another car because he cannot brake in time. You can say SA should pay for the repairs cause the brakes are not effective. But no sense cos the element of human factor caused it, not the car.

Our warranty system here sucks. The US guys just have to make sure the car consumes the required RON petrol and uses an API certified oil of the correct grade to maintain warranty. Anything happen like up lorry even through regular self-maintenance, the dealer have to honor the warranty. The car owner keeps the receipts for all the purchases he did (you know Americans lah, use credit card easy to check). Even the fuel purchase receipts when it is under warranty.

I don't support Chap Kerang. laugh.gif Never used any of their fuels. Caltex, EM and SPC rank very high with me. Not Chap Kerang.

Nahhhh....I don't think so ! My buddy cannot tell the difference between the windscreen washer fluid additive and engine coolant. He is a moron as far as cars are concerned and simply pump and drive ! I conclude that it is his driving style that screwed him. He is always saying how safe he drives and how dangerous I do ! Serve him right ! [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Can't be manufacturing fault because nobody so far has this problem so far. I also believe it is not his driving style. The only thing I can pinpoint is usage style. If he clocks 5km a day for 5 days then we will see such problems.

Seriously, I don't think it is driving style. You say he clocked 20k. Over how long was this distance clocked? Looks pretty low. I clocked 40k a year.

Its never a single reason for the cause. Its always an accumulation of a few factors.

Doubt so ! He drives average 30 km per day thru and fro home and work ! Problem is, he average 50 kmph all the way ! He should be driving a van instead ! [laugh]

This is apparently a problem with the more 'relaxed' Aveo drivers. My brother-in-law's Aveo(auto) nearly "went up the lorry" because of this too. Signs and symptoms: Severe loss of power, poor idling and Check Engine light coming on.

At 30,000+Km, the Check Engine light kept coming on, SA techs couldn't figure out what the problem was. The car was sent back to SA twice, and each time it remained there for 3 days! And they still couldn't figure out what was wrong. All they did was to reset the ECU. [thumbsdown]

After I looked at the car, I was shocked to find that the valves were sticking, the plugs were badly fouled and the piston crown had a whole lot of crap on it![shakehead][shocked][shocked]

The bottom line is, take your car out for an 'exercise' every once in a while. Just like we humans need to exercise too. [thumbsup] Long drives up North are good for the engine and so is the occasional excursion into the higher revs. Speeding does NOT help!!

Wait a minute. SA changes air filter only once a year. I change every 10k. My oil analysis.... wait all the Singapore oil analysis have high levels of silicon in them.
