Hatchet Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Hi, On a shoestring budget, so thinking of just changing my front speakers to component speakers.. Do i need a amp? Or just use my HU to drive enough liao? Any reasonable front component to recommend (<$500) , so next time, add stuff like amps and sub won't have to upgrade again... Music preference, jazz and instrumental pieces. thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Lionheart7004 Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 What is your HU? If you are on shoestring, i suggest that you buy 2nd hand speaker rather than the new ones so that you further squeeze the values from those purchase. Definitely you need amp to achieve improvements but is depends on your ambition. That will be very personal. I suggest that you expand your budget abit more say $1000 and do all installation at one shot. That will save more in terms of frequent upgrades cost involved with the installer. SG installation cost is not cheap.
Apollo 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 depends on ur Headunit lor. if u hv those with preAmp, should b able to drive up something .... close but no cigar. otherwise, can get 2nd Hand Amp (abt $100) + 2nd hand CDT ($300+). still suggest CDT/ rainbow/ soundstream/ any good speakers for simple reason tat it fetch some value when u sell them off.
