Hell101 Neutral Newbie July 21, 2005 Author Share July 21, 2005 have another question. think engine matter most when talk abt the difference in car price within the same model. comparing a legacy 2ltr and a 2ltr turbo. when assembling the car, so u think the difference between two are marginal? am quite sure the selling price aren't. ↡ Advertisement
Littleblackalfa Neutral Newbie July 21, 2005 Share July 21, 2005 well, the difference between these 2 are not marginal. the gauges are different, the seats are different, the turbo (intercooler, exhaust, hoses, coolant, compressor, turbine) is the most apparent, the bonnet is different. add these together and you have quite a substantial cost. I got a feeling even the engine isn't 100% similar. I think the GT would have better pistons and cams to take the turbo.
Slayer Clutched July 21, 2005 Share July 21, 2005 The Legacy 2i and Legacy GT is similar in the chasis.

W210k 1st Gear July 22, 2005 Share July 22, 2005 They are 2 totally different engines altogether (including peripheral equipment) ... perhaps just sharing the same engine block - that's all. All the rest, re forged pistons, different cam profile, forged con-rods / valve stems, cylinder head, exhaust extractors / manifold, multi-pass low-pressure-drop cat converters, cooling system, lubes system, air intake, ECU settings, brake pistons/pads, suspensions/shocks of a higher tune and of course the twin-scroll titanium turbine, intercooler and the likes. It is not just a turbo snap-on to a normal 2L NA engine. You can't just boost an engine and forget about the rest. It then becomes a travelling coffin. You get what you pay for. That tells a lot in the power delivery, top speed performance and overall handling of the LGT, compared to its lesser bretheren.
Chousei Neutral Newbie August 31, 2005 Share August 31, 2005 Honda's are good, but never good enough! i guess this year's MME race is as usual no relevance to the Turbo vs NA topic lar. But post for fun anyways. 12 hours of lap times, 3 drivers, lots of endurance racing in tropical weather. Yups. Conclusion to be formed by individuals. Class A 1. Honda Malaysia with a K20a wrapped in an ES Civic Bodyshell 2. Team Reubens DC5 3. ST Powered Evo
Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 31, 2005 Share August 31, 2005 (edited) Doesn't change a thing at all. Its only when singapore and malaysia are concerned that honda seems to do well. And when sg and my are concerned, they might know the theory on cars but they CMI in the actual build process. Besides if the majority of the cars are from honda and the rest crap built evo's and wrx's what are the chances that honda's going to win? The only exception to my sig is this one amuse built S2000.90% of the other time, honda will never be at the top, near it definately, but never at it. Like I've been telling all the wannabe drifters and togue drivers, go buy/download the option dvd's from japan. In addition to the drift bits, it has matched subjects circuit testing, matched subjects hills testing, best of jap vs best of the west. And theres always a honda involved. Thats why i say honda's are good, but never good enough. Edited August 31, 2005 by Elfenstar ↡ Advertisement
