Tpfaok Neutral Newbie June 27, 2005 Share June 27, 2005 Just got some petrol stains on my white car. Water couldn't remove the stains. Any suggestion on how to remove the stains? ↡ Advertisement
Protege 1st Gear June 27, 2005 Share June 27, 2005 Bro, Use a polish or wax. Should do the job!!! Next time if you happen to have some petrol spill on the paint, immediately wash off with water. Then you will be ok. Letting it stay there is bad for the paint!!
Finclk 1st Gear June 27, 2005 Share June 27, 2005 I've to add to that: Leaving anything corrosive on the paint is bad! Be it bird sxxt, tree saps, dead bugs... Get it off quick. I have a Quick Detailer from Meguairs in my car so that anytime I've such offensive items, I can quickly spray some quick detailer n wipe it off. Tpfaok Neutral Newbie June 27, 2005 Author Share June 27, 2005 Tried using Zainol Z1 and Z2 to remove the stain. Didn't work. Realise that Zaino is good for shine but not for removing stains. Now to dig out my old Johnson wax. This is my first white car. Previous ones were dark blue. Challenge now is to stop it from turning yellow. My view so far is that a white car is OK if u don't mind washing the car. But it's a 'no no' if u're obsessive with having a clean car. I'll wash the car once a week and that's it. And I draw a line at that. I won't do more than that - no matter how much my wife 'complains'. Thanks for all the help and info.
Southpark2000 Neutral Newbie June 27, 2005 Share June 27, 2005 Get a bug and tar remover.....should do the job. After that, then wax and seal.... If not, what you are doing is effectively sealing the petrol stains.... Southpark The Dude
Tpfaok Neutral Newbie June 27, 2005 Author Share June 27, 2005 Just to add that I always pump the petrol myself and take care that there's no splash of petrol on the car body. Guess I wasn't careful enough the last time. What I'll do from now on is to splash that area with water after every fill-up.
Protege 1st Gear June 27, 2005 Share June 27, 2005 You are right bro. Always wash off harmful stuff as soon as possible. Dun let it bake on the paint under the Sun.
