Errm, hate to say this but that isn't true as yet. The vectra is still the opel/vauxhall model rebadged as a holden.

 

The commodore will always be an australian car, there no way it will be a rebadged car in aust.

They've done that with the Barina.

Bargine basement prices for the Barina??? yup, they needed to compete with the ford fiesta.

 

 

The Aveo will appear in Australia as the Holden something.

They are thinking of the aveo but are unlikely as their range is pretty much full up right now. Not to mention it will canibalise astra sales.

 

 

Rebadging other GM cars as their own is Holdens forte, from the Nissan Pulsar (a.k.a. sunny) as the astra, to the toyota corolla as the nova and even the swift was once a barina!

That would be the 78-80 VB commodore. Officially its based on the rekord, and not a rebadge.

 

But then even if it was rebadged it has and will always be built here. Even their 2 door version (monaro) which is touted as made in america as the pontiac GTO still has everything made in aust and then shipped in parts to be assembled in the states.

Holden is mainly sold in Australia, and Aussies love them... Its a real strong brand over there..

yes when it came to SG it became Chevrolet Lumina and Opel Omega or something else in other parts of the world... Our dear Chevy Optra is actually a Suzuki Forenza and Optra 5 is Suzkui Reno in US market... so in short no gloabl brand identity. So imagine going overseas and say that you own a Chevy Optra and a friend in USA says he drives a Suzuki Forenza and you didn't even know they are both similar cars....
