Changing to a better head unit like D2 and RCA will certainly increase ur level of SQ.

From D2, u can run active using ur PHD 4 channel amp, thus having better control of over your tweeters and mids [sunny]

Wow. That means I need another single channel amp to drive my woofer. Cost going up [sweatdrop]

So D2, active crossover control, L and R Tweeters and Mids, all 4 inputs into my 4 channel amp. This will drive my tweeters and mids actively, and I can remove the passive crossover, right?

So let me see...

D2 = $1.5K

RCA = $150

Single Channel Amp = ?? Hmmm Audison SRx 1 will be sufficient, or LRx 1?

Most our bros here have told u, RCA is also called "Interconnect" in hifi terms .Prices ranges fronm a few bucks to hundreds and even thousands for serious high end users.

In layman terms, it is the cable with double "plugs" tats conects from your hu to amp [;)]

Yes, u can than remove ur crossover. You can get a dual mono to run ur sub, can go for Rockford, Audison, or even Phd [jawdrop]

RCA jack, also referred to as a phono connector or CINCH/AV connector, is a type of electrical connector which is commonly used in the audio/video market. The name "RCA" derives from the Radio Corporation of America

It is used for every sort of analog input and output, these come in color-coded pairs

Still tuning? You got a pre-amp, is it? Otherwise, I wonder what can we tune from an OEM integrated HU in Mazda3.

I think I may change my tweeters location to a customised directional job at the pillar instead of at the black mirror backplate. Maybe drop by Sat as well.

When I used a flat surface to deflect the sounds from the tweeters directly to me, I could easily hear much better clarity.

I'm also wondering how much of an improvement a better HU could fetch me. Maybe a later upgrade to a D2 to complete the picture. I noticed although my current Alpine allows Bass Focus and Time Delay/alignment for staging, it only has a few parametric equalisers that somehow does not quite allow tweaking to a flat freq response. Staging is fine, but I suspect my freq curve is not quite ideal as yet.

Sigh...that's why I opted for the side mirror backplates. But for Integra, the driver's console is really high and oriented towards me, such that it kind of obstructs the right tweeter next to it....

But anyway, A pillars are also nothing more than a simple plastic cover, just like the mirror backplate. No issue of permanent structural change to the car.

Just got PHD MF 62. Almost make my underseat-sub redundant. It is warm with lots of bass for a 6.5 incher. Have not tried others so cant compare. But paper specs showed it can go down to 35Hz .... Really bring the bass to the front instead of a typical 'bass-behind' setup. A little regret did not get the PHD FB, dunno how it'll sound like in the car ...

Hi, when you say the speaker is warm, does it also compromise the clarity at the lower range? I have tried the various speakers in Jln Jurong Kecil's that shop...the warm was good but lack detailness...can kindly advise?
