New Volkswagen Long-wheel based Passat in China actually a Superb?

The new Volkswagen long-wheel based Passat looks to uncanningly like a Superb with an Audi A4-looking behind? But anyways by right the Superb is based of the original Passat, are they a long running production line, especially that now that Volkswagen in China is picking up production of Skodas in China, parts wise and Chasis wise a very smart move, keeps inventory down.

 

The interior is just tooooooo Superb don't you think?

 

Dose this mean that all our Superbs has a potential to add on this Passat body kit? Anyways here are some pics from the web for your enjoyment and amusement.

Not impossible. VAG as a group has shared so many commonality of its platform and technologies, that it makes perfect economic sense for them. Just minor cosmetic differences in my opinion. However, to create the large front grille new look of VW, think it is not as easy as it looks. But then, I think our Superb looks stately, from its front grille, imho.

 

The headrest LCDs think there are aftermarket mods, in the UK and US. :-)

in case you didn't know, the Superb is based on the previous generation B5 Chinese passat. not the other way round.

 

this one looke like a facelifted version of the previous gen LWB passat with new passat nose. THe interior and specs says it is mechanically the previous gen passat.

You can get the chrome exhuast pipe tips, side mirrors with integrated blinkers from China if the prices are cheap.

wow. whats with the V6 on the gear shift. dont think anyone need to be reminded everyday that he/she is driving a v6 right?

I suppose that is only avaialble on the 2.8l V6 model. Anyway, the panel on the gear shifter can be replaced with an ordinary panel (from the Skoda Superb) without V6 letterings. Just apply some pressure and slide the panel upwards. The panel can be replaced within a minute.
