A Station Wagon along the Ferrari Pipeline?

This may be quite a shock to some die-hard Ferrari fans, but Ferrari is preparing an estate version of one of their cars for the Geneva Motor Show in March this year. It is said to be based on the 612 Scaglietti and it is meant to give the mighty 612 one last hurrah before production ceases as the model is approaching the end of its life at Maranello.   This is not the first time Ferrari has tried to put their heads together to make an estate version of one of their cars. They've tried it bef

THINK launches a 2+2 electric car and some thoughts about really small cars

Europe is a place where electric cars (EVs) seem very viable for people to own. The governments and manufacturers over there are willing to come up or share a budget to install charging stations and the people over there are also willing to use it for short commutes and take public transport for longer trips. As such, EVs can flourish (a little) and cars by the Oslo based company THINK can sell their EVs in decent numbers. THINK must be doing well as they have introduced a 2+2 version of their T

Johnson Controls buys RECARO

US automotive supplier Johnson Controls is about to take over the Keiper Recaro Group, famous for vehicle seats (both commercial and passenger vehicles) as well as metal seat frames and structures and those RECARO bucket seats that we all love. An agreement for the sale of Keiper Recaro Group was entered into between Putsch GmbH & Co. KG, the holding company for Keiper Recaro and Johnson Controls. Most may not have heard of Johnson Controls, but they actually are market leaders in automotive

Demystifying the Great CTE Jam

Amongst all the congestion on our roads, one particular expressway stands out for being more congested for far longer hours than any other road. Every driver knows that the CTE is notorious for its jams that can last way past 8pm. And despite whatever measures taken, like increasing ERP or undertaking road widening, the CTE remains pretty much a misnomer of an expressway. That is, an expressway with non-express speeds.   Ask around and there will be many theories proffered by different road u

According to a report from Autocar , Honda is rumored to be working on a CR-Z that ditches its conventional hybrid powertrain in favor of a small-displacement, turbocharged mill.   The proposed new engine is an all-new 1.6-liter unit that will produce around 160 horsepower. Genting at Sentosa or Genting at the Highlands? A motorhead's answer.

We know that citizens as well as permanent residents of Singapore get hit with an entrance fee if they want to frequent the casinos over at Resorts World Sentosa and the one at Marina Bay area. Each prospective fun-seeker would need to pay SG$100 before he or she starts losing money at one of these places. Now if you intend to spend a hundred Singapore Dollars in a slightly better way, may I suggest using that money for a drive to Genting Highlands?   The hundred dollars would be used

Ferrari Enzo prototype number M3 is up for sale again

What we have here folks is actually something really unique. At first glance you'd think someone lengthened a Ferrari 348 over a very long chassis or that this must be some custom kit car using the Ferrari badge for the fun of it. But it's not. This car is actually the mother of all Ferrari Enzos.   Most of you are aware what the Ferrari Enzo is/was. It was produced between 2002 to 2004 and was the flagship model of the Ferrari range at the time. 400 of these cars were produced and notable ac

Think your commute to work is bad?

Not too long ago, I bestowed upon Singapore the prestigious title of Motoring Hell. With traffic congestion, bad driving etiquette and now road rage becoming par for course these days, I am sure that many of you readers are inclined to agree with me. But here is something to make you feel better about your daily drive to work even if you encounter a kayu driver that nearly side-swiped you.   We should all be thankful that our daily commute to work does not take place on the Death Road in Boli

Road rage is inevitable of city life

I'm sure you are aware of the slew of road rage incidents lately:   There was the motorcyclist who followed a motorist for 20km before kicking his car door and grabbing the driver because the driver changed lanes without signaling and nearly knocked the biker down.   There was the driver who threatened the other driver with a wooden bat which he retrieved from his boot. Then there was local artiste Pierre Png who got flashed the middle finger when he came out of the car to check if his car w

Official pics of the Merdad 2 door Cayenne

Six or seven months ago word first broke out that tuner Merdad intended to come up with a 'coupe' version of the Porsche Cayenne SUV. Some shook their heads in amazement, while some eagerly waited for it. Those that were eager for it would be pleased to note that Merdad had indeed built such a Cayenne and had displayed it at the Londow Motor show in the United Kingdom last November.   Merdad of UK has basically released official press photos of the car, called the Merdad GT 902 2door coupe. Hamann Gallardo Victory II a.k.a I've got money but I may be lacking in taste

"I have the money to make something so purposeful, tasteful and beautiful into something garish, outrageous and into something that spells out 'boy racer' even though I may have a monthly income of more than the annual GDP of Timor Leste." This is what I think Hamann must have meant when they created the Lamborghini Gallardo Victory II you see in this short article.   Enough said. Just enjoy the pictures and proof on what you can do with excess cash. Happy 2011 people!

Shall we cycle to work?

During my travels to Europe, I noticed how there is a significant amount of people who cycle to work. Some cycle straight to the office, some cycle to the subway station and park their bicycles outside before taking the train to work.   In Singapore however, where our country is so much smaller than London for example, we don't exactly see a lot of people doing that. It's probably not in the culture and also, our public transport system is rather comprehensive.   More people have been able t

Updated MB C-class unveiled

This is the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which gets a very modest facelift for the new model year.   We can tell by looking at the photos that the exterior styling changes are somewhat subtle, and are concentrated up front with the very CLS-like, L-shaped headlamps. The bumper gets re-sculptured and the hood is more heavily contoured. As for the interior, the updated Mercedes model gains a fixed LCD screen on top of the dashboard along with a completely new center console design. The updated

Proposed F1 protective windscreen

The FIA is proposing to mandate plexiglass windscreens for the cockpits of formula one cars, according to an Italian report.   Autosprint published a photoshopped image of a possible F1 windshield that claims to protect drivers from being struck on the head. The exposure of the drivers' heads made headlines last year, when Felipe Massa was seriously injured by a flying suspension spring, days after Formula Two driver, Henry Surtees, was killed when he drove into the path of a stricken wheel.
