I happened to chance upon the above video showing a 14-wheeler truck overturning on a busy road in Wenling City in eastern China's Zhejiang Province. This is a negative demonstration on the way you are supposed to turn into a corner with such a heavy and long vehicle. As you can see in the closed circuit TV footage, the driver of the lorry was apparently in a hurry to pass the traffic light and speeded through the crossroad only to overturn and drop the container on its side. According to media reports, officials said by-passers narrowly avoided being hit.

The above video reminded me of the truck drivers along Changi Coastal Road, where I used to drive along every day. There are several sharp bends along the road, as seen in the picture below. Container drivers are seen driving at high speeds along those bends. Since Changi Coastal Road has traffic in both directions, I can

The last time I encountered nearly such case was at Aljunied, this trailer was negotiating a bend at high speed on the opposite side, and the trailer with a container sort of swing outwards. Because it was a two way traffic lane, I was on the opposite side, my heart skip for a moment.

Are these drivers from China too? I don't want them to come drive trailers in Singapore.

We are creatures of the air-con

I've often wondered: How much work would get done today if offices were not air-conditioned? What if the only air-con we could enjoy was only in shopping malls and supermarkets? Images of stuffy offices fill my mind. Despite the availability of fans to circulate air, the oppressive heat and humidity will lower our productivity. Many of my colleagues and I experienced this in our previous office, where the ancient air-conditioning system would have a monthly breakdown. For two days, the

I have a new favourite game - Dave the Diver!

Nowadays I think many people have a Nintendo Switch, considering how it is often given away as a free gift when you sign up for credit cards, etc. Instead of just playing Mario Kart, Overcooked and Pokemon, I have another game to introduce to you all! The game is Dave the Diver. This game has completely captivated me with its delightful blend of adventure and relaxation. From the moment I dove into its vibrant underwater world, I was hooked. The gameplay mechanics strike that perfect b

    Singapore’s ultimate NDP song?

As my JC classmates suddenly made plans this year to have an NDP watch-party (this is likely our first in the 12 years we’ve known each other), I found myself falling into a state of nostalgia again: This time, thinking about how NDP songs have evolved over the years. It’s not a stretch to say that each NDP song - from the inception of the idea of an NDP song back in 1984 - has woven itself somewhat into the fabric of our collective memories. Whether you were singing along loudly in primary
