Sgcarmart goes on an adventure!

Gentlemen, start your engines… or perhaps you'd might want to get those electric motors purring!

Sgcarmart has kicked off its inaugural Sgcarmart Adventures - a curated adventure designed to bring local car enthusiasts and the community at large together - with a driving trip that saw a total of six cars participating to take a deeper look at Singapore's automotive manufacturing history.

The day started off with a quick breakfast right in the lobby of our office, which was followed by a safety briefing and a quick photoshoot of both the participants and their cars.

A quick drive later saw our convoy arriving at the Former Ford Factory, where our participating Mycarforum members got a deeper than usual insight into the history of the plant, where we were greeted by one chatty but insightful museum guide.

The tour proved to be highly informative, with the guide informing those gathered about more than just the history of the factory itself, but also its surroundings and sharing more than few personal anecdotes about what motoring here in Singapore was like during the years after the war.

One more shot of the participants later then saw our convoy heading off to visit the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore, where we were treated to a tour of the facility. But this was no regular visit - those who joined us for this tour got the unique opportunity to meet Spot, the canine-inspired robot developed by Hyundai-owned robotics firm Boston Dynamics.

This was then followed by the chance to try some of the innovation centre's vegetables from its vertical farm, and the chance to 'assemble' some cars as part of an augmented reality experience!

And of course, we couldn't leave before first sampling some of the cars now being made at the centre, starting off with rides in the Ioniq 5 on the centre's own rooftop Skytrack.

Those who wanted to get behind the wheel of a car were not left out, however, as test drives of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 (on the roads surrounding the innovation centre, that is) were also offered to all eligible Mycarforum members as part of the driving trip!

  • Godzilla Minus One: Surprisingly emotional and poignant

When one thinks of Godzilla movies, one imagines an oversized amphibious dinosaur generating a terrifying heat ray from its mouth and fighting with other oversized monsters. Meh, nothing special, right? Wrong. Here’s why Godzilla Minus One should be an action movie you should definitely catch. In this version, the timeless clash between monster and man is once again set against the tumultuous backdrop of post-war Japan. But, unlike typical action films that dive headfirst into destruction a

5 ways the Polestar 2 Core Edition proves less can be more

With a less-is-more approach, the Polestar 2 Core Edition offers a more value-for-money entry into the Swedish brand.  What first comes to mind when you think of Sweden? IKEA, and probably ABBA. But there's plenty more that has come out of Sweden besides flat-pack furniture, meatballs and impossibly-catchy pop songs. Founded as a standalone brand just eight years ago and headquartered in Torslanda, Sweden, Polestar is a design-forward electric performance brand that wants to put its Sc

Are forums outdated? I try to find out by asking AI

Is your boss asking you to explore and learn how to use AI to improve the quality and efficiency of your work? Yup, you aren't the only one in that boat.  Whilst exploring new AI tools, I figured: Why not use it to answer some burning questions that I have? This time, it was about whether forums are outdated. Yes, forums like this one that we are on. I remember how before social media became popular, and before apps like Carousell existed, forums were where I chatted with others t

    The Joys of Morning Walks

Like most other folks stuck in the rut of smartphone-hyper-use, I recently caught myself doing the same each morning: Waking up to immediately reach for my phone. Reflecting on the first quarter of the year, however – and realising that I’ve been subconsciously plunged into an extended bout of languidness – brought me to the realisation: Perhaps it's time to embrace a different routine. One that started with stepping outside into the crisp morning air, and feeling the gentle warmth of
