Bobcatsysop Neutral Newbie August 14, 2007 Share August 14, 2007 However, this nice Track 1 One-Half was only sung at the very end of the movie 881 (when production and actors wordings start to show up) when almost everybody (except me and my friend) are standing up leaving the theatre. What a waste!!.. I would say 'wrong positioning'. There are at least a little more than half of the nice songs are only sung in the movie. The 1st half are full of laughter but when the second half came, the whole theatre was dead silence.. except once in a while, you hear some soft sobing in the theatre. It's worth watching the movie if you understand hokkien as most of the dialog is more hokkien little mix with mandarin. Seeing subtitles looses the 'fun'. I just saw it this afternoon. CHEERS!!! personally, i am so so with hed kandi only... a little too repetitive for me actually. here are a few house albums that i like: THe Therapy Sessions (Dave Seaman & Phil K) Renaissance The Mix Collection - remastered 10th anniversary edition (Sasha & John Digweed) esp CD1, nice strong opening... Here & Now (Kaskade) fairly fast paced album Harley & Muscle presents Addicted to House 5 Addicted Fabriclive 30 Stanton Warriors, Fabric 29 Tiefschwarz hee... this will rock your ride... Slidingturtle Neutral Newbie August 14, 2007 Share August 14, 2007 no prob. yup, they have quite a good collection (i got most of my chillout and house music from them actually). plus u can test them out at the shop, which is a bonus. their sales staff do try to recommend and pick out cds for u if u tell them the genre u are looking for, though i must say their tastes can be flaky at times... happy hunting. Slidingturtle Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 a few more interesting cds to share. some of them house, some of them a little more 'dance-y' in nature... anyway, these don't appear to be terribly popular genres for the cd buying crowd, so do a few more intros here... club azuli 02/06 (future sound of the dance underground) easy swinging club dance beats markus schulz ibiza 06 strong and a bit more soulful i feel, musical actually haha... some i think lable the cd as 'progressive trance', but i personally feel it is not that trance as in like tiesto trance. afterdark LA i like cd2 better, the cd opens with vocal without music, pulls up high, then the heavy bass starts shoving its way in... it then builds up from there, a fairly fast paced mix that keeps going sessions 11 Fedde Le Grand cd1: slowish and heavy, a bit moody i would say... makes u want to just close your eyes and sway with the deep tempo.. as the cd progresses, the pace increases and builds up sessions 12 Mark Knight cd1: cd starts off real heavy, can imagine in the club, the strobs will be flashing, the heads will be bobbing, the arms will be in the air... and that goes on for a good min and a half... heavy house eh? ok, not everyone's taste but... have fun... Sarong1 1st Gear August 22, 2007 Author Share August 22, 2007 Hi Roland, Which are the songs you liked better? As mentioned to Bro Kermit earlier, the recording is ordinary but when you play track 11 Last Breath (Guitar version), you immediately can hear very clear distortion like playing a very old record.. cannot believe that is happening. Anyway, majority of the songs are in hokkien mix.. I think there are 3 One Half versions but I liked track 8, a 100% hokkien track. This was my first impression when listening it for the 1st time. Sarong1 1st Gear August 22, 2007 Author Share August 22, 2007 Can't understand why my reply was not captured. I am replying once more. I have gotten the OST CD well before I watch the movie itself. One main difference is the impressions on the songs before and after watching the movie. Some songs appeared to be funny but it took a twist after watching and seeing how the songs were delivered. Its the mood that the songs should be delivered that made me took a turn on relooking what the songs really wanted to impress upon me. A well-done movie and a well-done OST. Hyun Neutral Newbie August 24, 2007 Share August 24, 2007 yesterday, caught the 881 people when they showed up for some live promo of their stuff. seems that may and choy's vocals were also sung by another pair of ladies, for the sake of recording. not sure if the CD stated it. and royston tan himself actually sang one of the songs.. the one about "hang zheng pai" (bad economy). think he might have appeared cameo in the movie as well, but can't remember cos i didn't know how he looked like in real life until yesterday. and ming zhu sisters... well, they've since graduated and are now ming zhu aunties. 881-ah-1-ah-1! 881-ah-1-ah-1! ↡ Advertisement
