Sarong1 1st Gear September 9, 2009 Author Share September 9, 2009 (edited) It is timely to revisit Chen Jieli since I bought her album sometime back. I remembered she was with RFS label then. This would be the second partnership with Chris Badida. I have not heard the first album she did with Chris but her latest album is definitely a shift from her previous works. I like this 浓情-饱比达 x 陈洁丽 album for particular reasons. One, it's jazzy and has a mixture of Bosanova flavour in it. Unlike her earlier works catered to audience who are more mature in age, this album is easy going on the old numbers. Two, Chris Babida's improvisation of the oldies is refreshing. There are two original songs composed by Chris Babida while the rest are old songs remake. For eg, 夜上海, 何日君再来 etc. Thirdly, a Japanese mastering engineer, Hiroyuki Hosaka at Hosaka Studio in Tokyo, was engaged to give a final touch to the recording. The end result is very good, warm and smooth. The recording is nice and clean, catered to audiophiles and oldies lovers. Chris Babida's piano work is easily recognisable. Chen Jieli's voice has not changed much, in fact, I think her delivery has matured along the way. Her vocal fundamentals are there and it is still along the type of female vocal that melts men's heart...甜美和“爹爹”的. At times, she does sound like Teresa Teng, but yet, she retains her own 风格. For some of you who have bought her debut live concert in Hong Kong CD, I recommend that you get this as well (the debut live version is equally good). The CD cover is more presentable now unlike the Chinese-pressed hard covers. Marketed under the Taiwan-based Logistic Entertainment, the quality of the CD can be assured. I have a number of the jazz CDs under the same label, this is how much I recognise Logistic Entertainment products. “Nong Qing” was launched just last month and is available at Roxy. The CD itself has got a nice motif, a piece of artwork indeed. I read something interesting at the back of the album. It stated “...for sales in Taiwan R.O.C only.” Ask Richard for a copy to listen at his place. By the way, follow this link and watch the video clip in cantonese. Nlatio Turbocharged September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 (edited) Good review again bro... guess I need to revisit the CD again.... the first time I heard... just somehow did not find that it "attract" my attention unlike her earlier CDs.... maybe overdose of her.... .... At that time, find that the Tong Li Missing You CD seem to sound sweeter and warmer to me... Edited September 9, 2009 by Nlatio

Nlatio Turbocharged September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 Nlation, come, do a review here. haaa bro, I cannot lar..... no "ink" for that.... in anycase, like the warmth in her voice..... not so "bright"like some of Lily CDs.... guess maybe need to let my home speaker burn in more.... or get a better Int Amp..... Think those Tong Li supporter will like it..... like Song 7.... the all time favourite Olive (橄榄树)..... its oldies but goodies and she had her way of bringing out the song...... .... but think still like the version from 齐豫.... heee.... Sarong1 1st Gear December 17, 2009 Author Share December 17, 2009 Back with a vengeance? No, not really. I can barely squeeze out a bit of my milk-feeding time to introduce Khalil Fong's latest concert album for your enjoyment. Khalil's latest live album, titled Live in Hong Kong 2009 is a follow-up to his Timeless released earlier this year. I have gotten this double CD album from Music Junction while doing a milk run at Causeway Point. Containing 31 songs in total, including the Introlude and Outrolude at the beginning and end of the two CDs, folks familiar with and like Khalil's songs should get this latest album without hesitation. Reasons are abundant needless to say. The one that really impressed me much is how vivid the kick bass sounded in my car stereo. Recording is superbly done and nicely mastered back in studio. The songs are well-spread in the two CDs, my favourites are mostly in the first disc. Nothing's gonna change my love for you; Georgia on My Mind, Moon River etc. The album comes in a paper digipak packagin and will reveal two CDs when you unfold the page within. So, you have gotten his Timeless album and is screaming for more, don't torture yourself, get this album sure no regrets.
