Haven't got chance to read newspaper. Have not heard of her before but I have heard Tong Yao over TV, vocal quite resembled Teresa Teng. Dig out more credentials on Ji Qiu Lin before spending the money.

Normally, it is in very small print and you have to look real hard to find out. That's the cover of the album. The original one is smaller in size. One is Taiwan press and the other is Singapore press. Can you see it here in this enlarged image file?

thanks. it manufactured in taiwan. agree that track 12 is nice. anyway, i am going to buy another piece. pass my piece to a friend after the meetup. paid $18.95 for it.

When a woman tells you a particular CD is nice, trust me, she will be correct. While woman may not be mad audiophiles like us, their sensitive ears are something we have to respect. This is the exact comments I have gotten on this CD I am reviewing.

 

Now, what I have with me is a complimentary autographed version of this 2V1G from a good friend in Malaysia (I think this is the first-pressed). The album design is simple enough and it won't impress upon you that it is a serious recording album...well, except for a small little sticker on the jewel case that says " Limited Edition Imported from Hong Kong" and the most eye-catching of all - "mastered by Keith Yip, the man behind Susan Wong's album".

 

As usual, I demag the CD (really opens up a lot than before) while my system gets warm up. About an hour later, I went back to my room again and start off with track 1's Coming Home...my goodness...how can a recording sounds so real? Instantly, I know I am gonna be stuck on my chair for a long time to come. I closed my eyes till Track 1 ends. First of all, the vocal is refreshing yet engaging, she may not have the look of the pop stars we see in today's music industries but her voice can definitely out beat many of the famous singers we have in market nowadays. Talking about good singing, she has it. Next, good guitar works - details of fingers running across the fret, to the plucking, to the shirt rubbing on the sound board...these are details meticulously retained after mixing and mastering. Nice.

 

I went straight to track 3's Endless Love and Track 4's Tempting Heards...same feeling...warm, intimate...very engaging...

 

Track 11's Crying is my another top favourite...having listened to so many versions of this song, I must say that 2V1G is second to Tracy Huang's original version...very touching.

 

Conclusion.

 

This is a very simple album - very professional singers plus nice guitar play. Simple as it is, the music is really engaging, the way I have always like it to be. The vocals are warm, well focused and from my system, the two ladies's distinct vocal characters is immediate. In fact, one of them sounded Fish Leong. Credits should also go to the guitarist - clear, clean and surprising detailed...

 

A must-have CD if you like engaging music, vocals accompanied by guitar. For some of you that have heard last Fri, you know what I meant... ;p Indeed, this is a highly recommended CD!
