Felipe 3rd Gear August 17, 2005 Share August 17, 2005 (edited) if u intend to drive the car for at least 5 years, then it wud make sense for the rebate. if not, just stick to the rebateless deal. but also depends on no. of years loan. another factor to consider is the refinancing part. i think this scheme kinda prevents u from refinancing as u gotta cough out all the rebate money. so gota do yr sums. 1. w/o rebate at 84k. monthly loan amt, then refinance, how much u save. 2. with rebate at 79k, refinance and gotta cough up rebate money, how much u save. my guess is it all ends up roughly the same. Vit4wd 1st Gear August 21, 2005 Share August 21, 2005 hahaha i reckon the focus is about 1.5tons gross weight and it still is able to do the job, plus mines just 100bhp with 145nm of torque. Dude have faith in your Alfa; have seen similar italians(e.g the lancias and fiats) excel in the accelerating dept. Maybe its also down to your driving style. Btw, i'm not trying to put down the altis, sunny or any other jap cars. At almost 1,300kg, the 1.6l Focus is a heck of heavyweight. Yes, it can still perform, but at the expense of a BIG petrol bill. Spas Neutral Newbie September 8, 2005 Share September 8, 2005 79k for the 147 1.6TS right? Think u shld go for the 2.0selespeed instead tho. but think that's gonna be ard 20k more than the 1.6TS

Hatch_lover Neutral Newbie September 8, 2005 Share September 8, 2005 Hi Kanr, I'm driving the 2.0L now, in fact consumption is better than my previous MK1 Focus. Focus I was getting 9.5-10km/L but now I'm getting 11-11.5km/l. Same route, and more aggressive driving in fact coz the Twinspark just invites u to rev it every time Unless u're comparing to Jazz or Vios, otherwise its relatively fuel efficient me think
Tron Neutral Newbie September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 and i can vouch for wat Hatch lover said...
Wankie Clutched September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 at least is still better than any Japs 1.6L one which is 88KW (105hp) at the flywheel and not at the wheels as most conti cars are. Furthermore the Twin Spark engine is very frugal at 6.3L/100Km (15.873016km/L of petrol) You'll NEVER get that kind of FC from a TS engine even if you pussyfoot all the way hell, i couldn't even get that from my Jazz previously
Wankie Clutched September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 Factory figures for fuel consumption is far from what you can expect to achieve i second that
Felipe 3rd Gear September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 high consumption? my 147 1.6 is getting better fc than some hyundai and japs, abt 12km/l with mix hard revving and normal driving. at this point, think the price is pretty decent. i wudnt say its an expensive car, but of cos if u compare to similar 1.6 other than mini, then it is. but put it this way, its one hell of a driving experience. take a test drive. the SEs at euroauto are nice bunch of folks. no airs. u wun regret it. Felipe 3rd Gear September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 hmm...i noe the 105bhp 147 (facelifted) has better FC than the previous 147 120bhp. so maybe tat 15km/l is possible but perhaps purely on highway all the way.
King 1st Gear March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 one point to take noet is that alfa use long life plug,it is suppose to use for 100,000km but given sillypore climate, u better check every 10,000 to 20,000km. I help a few of my friend check, and found out at 60,000km, the plug need to be replace... which after the FC become better. i also found use irudium plug for both big and small plug. Hicksau Neutral Newbie March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 i read from a Alfa UK forum 1.6 147 hitting 225kmh. so its not exactly news to me. but that's the way it is. conti cars can handle the high speeds with stability. can even visit renault forum. they can tell u the megane top speed is way past the 190kmh in the specs. somehow, i always feel the conti specs are sorta understated. driving relative's scenic , you can feel that even if you hit 200 , its shouldn't be a problem
Felipe 3rd Gear March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 yea, am aware of tat. manual recomends change at 100km. but at the 60k major svc, will change it. 10k to 20k is abit excessive imo
Felipe 3rd Gear March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 but i do like to add a note of caution as speedo may not reflect speeds accurately at top speeds. so i think the 225kmh is perhaps excess of 10% or so of its true value

Hey this I've to agree...theres quite a number of Megane owners who managed to take the car beyong 200km/hr fully stock on the NS higway. I'm just waiting for a chance to steal my dad's megane to stretch her legs ↡ Advertisement
