If for regular maintainance, with machine and pads you can continue to use your existing products too. Only if you want to defects removal than you need more specific products.

DA and RO (random ordit) buffers are quite similar, except the DA does spin very slowly besides the orbiting action. You can get Meguiar's pad at Hypercoat and 3M pads at Tonita, the pads can be reuse and last quite a while if you do proper maintainance.

to remove swirl marks by hand is a very hard job my suggestion is to sent to pro ppl to do for u.

Swirl marks is a very mirco fine line on the clear coat, so some ppl say they can use wax to remove that not true cos it only cover, just like woman face use powder to cover their face.

Wax is to protect the clear coat not to remove anythings.

Drat...

I shd have read this thread, in particular this link Gen2 provided, before my detailing session today.

Used ScratchX because I'd been neglecting the car, resulting in a lot of water etch-marks and swirls. Had the same horrendous experience as Starry as I left the ScratchX to dry, per instructions on the product. It simply could not be completely removed thereafter.

I eventually gave up buffing and just applied sealant over it. My poor bonnet.

[bigcry] [bigcry] [bigcry]

The following thread should give you a pretty good idea how to remove swirl with ScratchX by hand but be prepare to [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop] .

Regular wax (DIY or pro detailers) means every once in a while your car's outlook will be refreshed. Coupled with regular washing and QD, you can probably get a decent looking shine most of the time.

If you heck care until 3-5 yrs later and change car or respray, then your car only looks good probably 1 month in the 3-5 yrs!

Pros and cons lah. :P

The Bosch Gex 270AE comes with a variable speed (opm not rpm). Normally for applying glaze or wax you use the slower speed and for swirl or defect removal you pump up to a higher speed.

I hope you have totally removed the residue of ScratchX before you apply the sealant otherwise will affect the effect and bonding of the sealant you are using. But not to worry the problem can still be solved with the proper technique and tools [nod], so no need to [bigcry] so hard over your poor bonnet [;)].
