13" tyres and rim

Hi, I have a question about 13" rim. Heard that 14 " will be more stable is that true? Actually What I aim for is better fuel consumption. Will getting a taiwanese make 13 " sport rim be better than the original 13" cap rim??

bigger rim or sports rim would make ur wheel heavier, thus more stable. at the same time make ur ca rlooks nicer. but fuel consumption would be higher a bit cos heavy ma...

overall affect wun be too huge.

What car are you driving?

 

Yes, you're car will be more stable but not in a comfort sense, but as in your car will have more grip on the road and the thinner side profile means that the sidewalls are stiffer and thus less body roll.

 

A larger contact surface will naturally increase FC. One way to counter this is to get lighter rims.

Hi, I am getting a aveo soon. They are giving me the 13" original. I saw on a website that said smaller rim faster acceleration, bigger rim, higher top speed. Dont know got bull or not.

 

Currently I am driving a daewoo lanos 14" sport rims and the fc sucks ie 8 to 9km/l.

Smaller rims, lighter, less friction, so faster acceleration. But if lose grip how?

 

Bigger rims=higher top speed i reckon is cos at the same given RPM for the drive shaft, the circumference of the wheel+tyre is increased, so higher actual speed.

Well, I am aiming for faster acceleration, top speed I am aiming is 80km/h. Well actually I was abt to get a accent but when I saw the aveo I change my mind. So is it better I just get the normal caps or a sport rims??

If not then dun waste money on the OEM sports rims and ask the SE to minus the rims off the car price, since you'll be changing rims anyway, right?

Actually they are giving me the one with those caps only. Can ask them to minus the rims?? The lady only give me reverse sensor, radio antennae and big mirror only. Yah, I did not loan from them. The lady like very difficult to give anything if I do not loan.

"the circumference of the wheel+tyre is increased" are you sure? So you are sayign that your speedometer is inaccurate already. The size increase should not be more than 5% FYI.

currently mine is 14". But the new car is 13". The guy that sell me the rims said 13" is ok, 14 " more stable.

 

Well the taiwan rim they quoted me $280. I heard is normal price. You know the market price??

One thing I find bad about the stock Aveo 13" tyres is that the shops I enquired do not stock them. That means if you change, they'll have to order and there will be a lag time... That's why I am intending to change to 14"...

Yeah loh... Went to a couple of tyre shops to enquire about the price for replacement tyres and those I went said they don't keep stock, have to order one... But then, I wasn't really looking hard around... Just want to know how popular 13" are in Singapore... And planning whether to change tyres or rims once my current set of tyres are worn down...

Actually I was thinking of keeping the wheel caps for the time being. The price they quoted me $280 for the taiwan SSW 13" rims is so so price. This morning I saw a chevrelot with 13" wheel caps look ok to me.
