Groaning sound when reversing

Hi,

Wondering if anyone knows or encountered an initial groaning sound for a second, coming from the wheels (front I think) or maybe just from underneath the car when I do a reverse.

It only comes out when initially reversing, never when driving forward. I've tried reversing straight, with full lock, with half lock, any direction and the groaning sound always comes out.

One thing I noticed is sometimes, after the first reverse, the sound does not come out. Also during rain or after having recently finished raining, there is no sound too. Could it be some part is dry and need lubricating? If so, which part and how do I lubricate it? [laugh]

Thanks.

Groaning?

Either you hit someone and he is somehow entangled into the wheel fender and he is in pain ......

or

someone is having sex in your boot

Nope... everything is stock from the dealer, even the rims and tyres.

Sorry, could you tell me how to check the steering rack, absorbers and springs? What do I look out for?

Thanks.

To be honest you should have REALLY check the backseat for any couples making out.....one of the most common cause of groaning sound coming from the rear! [lipsrsealed][laugh][laugh]

I think my initial diagnosis of your groaning problems from the rear was pretty accurate...becos in your first post you had mentioned about this persistent groaning sound and about the possibility of 'parts' being dry and needs lubrication!

With most of the 'leading words'in bold being in your post I don't see how I could have diagnosed your 'groaning problem' wrongly...hehehe [sly][laugh][laugh]

Had you check the brake disc??

Once, I had a friend who drive in Malaysia. He had a small stone stuck inside the brake disc, so whenever he reverse, there is a grinding sound.

Maybe your is similar.

My Guess, brake pad stuck to your disc. I have this problem before. Try to spray water in your disc brake do not do it while hot, it will warp your disc. If this only happen in morning or after a long time with hand brake on and not after carwash and heavy rain, its most likly the case.
