Sparrow Neutral Newbie February 8, 2003 Share February 8, 2003 How to show the other drivers that you are in need to dash off and request for them to give way? I tried this before, result is a mixed... Road condition light and I am on the right lane...driving to catch up with the front car...when getting near to the front car, I will signal right and maintain about half car length. I did have driver who move to the mid lane....when I passed the car, gave a friendly wave and press on....When met with ignorant one, don't get frustrate, just find a chance to overtake the bugger, move back to the right lane, and then push on. I read about this before and it might be helpful if everyone start to practise a standard procedure so every other one will understand the purpose. Othello Supersonic February 8, 2003 Share February 8, 2003 actually, being human, we are imperfect and hence not everyone share the same views..........so wat i realli think is to vent out our anger over hear and thats it. dun tink its good to pose numbers or make an official complain UNLESS it realli is life endangering...... live and let live
GDIzen Neutral Newbie February 8, 2003 Share February 8, 2003 Like Bronson said in Death Wish V, I think! "I'm not afraid of guns, just idiots with guns!" So in MCF context, "I'm not worried about fast drivers, just idiots driving fast" My $0.02 worth

Blueice Neutral Newbie February 8, 2003 Share February 8, 2003 it boils down to driver education. there are a handful of commendable ones, but there are still a lot more who arent. driver education takes time. as more and more ppl drive better it will make this unruly bunch look bad. to those who drive with manners... Selespeed156 Neutral Newbie February 13, 2003 Share February 13, 2003 Actually, I does not matter what speed you are travelling, 100 or 120 kmph.... the right lane is for overtaking. Give you an example of well cultivated driving manners in almost all of european countries, The left lane (left hand drive) is clear most of the time, even when the road is quite busy. Drivers use the overtaking lane, purely to overtake! After doing so, they will move back into the right lane, even at 130+ kmph. I have given up flashing or blowing my horn at these idiotic road hoggers , they would simply ignore you or step on their brakes if you tailgate them..... just overtake them
Lufu 1st Gear February 18, 2003 Share February 18, 2003 In other countries like the UK, drivers go out of their way to let emergency vehicles pass.. I have witness drivers moving their cars onto kerbs and to the side shoulders just to let an ambulance pass. In New Zealand where I driven on long journey of travel for 3 weeks, those big lorry truck would even go onto the left side pebbles off-road to let you pass first knowing you are high speed and faster. In Singapore, when you signal, those big containers, sound their air horn and rush forward. And just imagine 1 hit on you, you will be on the way to heaven
Lebonchi 1st Gear February 27, 2003 Share February 27, 2003 I had a similar case at AYE before but with a black galant, it suddenly came from nowhere and tailgated very close. I was travelling at 90 km/h and there are vehicles in my lane in front. Then guess what!! It flashed high beam at me to give way!!! After a while it filtered to the right to overtake my car... YES!!! I was on the middle lane and this chap had the gall to ask me to filter to the left most lane for him to overtake???!!! Hey guys, Guess what? I was travelling along AYE going back home when I was being tailgated by a wonderfully-coloured beetle car (dark green) with a unreasonable driver onboard (pity the nice colour and girlfriend ). It was a male driver. Now, why was he unreasonable, you might ask? Well, I was travelling at a healthy speed, while happily chatting with my girlfriend when this driver came up behind me. Not only was he tailgating me, he was flashing his headlights at me constantly! As if to tell me to give way to him on a public road!!! that's when i got really mad and copied his license plate number and time of incident!!! while slowing down to let him pass me. well... with his arrogance, he naturally sped past me at a speed of at least 150Km/hr. Even though I tried to catch up withim to give a piece of my mind ,he was even risking everyone's lives by dashing even thorough the red light! Anyone know where to lodge a compliant for such drivers? Thanks!

Chris_ck Neutral Newbie March 3, 2003 Share March 3, 2003 (edited) Did you take down the vehicle number? just lodge a report with Traffic Police for him beating the red light and they will pursue the matter. But be prepared to testify in court if he is not willing to plead guilty to the offence. Edited March 3, 2003 by Chris_ck
