Greetings,

My advice to you is to learn the basics rather then drifting. I would advice you drive the car in granny mode and get used to the characteristics of the WRX. This took me 3 months (2 yrs driving experience). After 3 months I gave it a bit more juice and experimenting the cornering characteristics at a slower pace. It was only after I understand the characteristic of the car before I started modding. This took me 1 year.

I would suggest you learn heel toe, braking points on the track, learn how to correct under and oversteer, Slalom and apex well and the list goes on.

However you being a P plater, I would advice you forget whatever I've just told you and get some experience under your belt and get used to some of the World's Finest Moronic Drivers we have here in Singapore.

It is best you take up defensive driving and learn the proper Road Etiquette. When you have a few yrs under your belt then we'll come and talk about the basics. Meanwhile enjoy your ride. [thumbsup]

so lucky....... you don't know how lucky you are man.....

wrx is my dream car... just love looking over the scoop. too bad the next version is butt ugly. IMO this current 1 is the chio-est.. [inlove]

sigh....

but a stock wrx.. even sti (for the s'pore spec) will lose to a stock EVO 8/9... so shd know ur limits n becareful who u 'play' with...

if u wanna taste the power, u can start by accelerating from 0 to like 50 or 60 from traffic light.. still legal but get some kick [laugh]

not that i'm encouraging ya but at least wait a yr b4 trying stunts... 13pts is not alot n it just takes beating 1 redlight to make u guai guai sit at home n not drive... cos 1 more mistake n gantong licence le.

saying from a P-plater's point of view... just 4 more months left n clean record so far [sweatdrop] anyway my lao pok chia can't go very fast..

Congratulations. Good for you.

It may be wise to register the car under your dad's name, as it would incur a huge insurance premium under your name.

But if your dad currently has 50% NCD for his own car which he prefers to keep, then you may wish to register it under your mum's name.

hi lincoln,

congrats on getting ur rex, it's a nice car. u should first master ur basic driving skill, afterwhich u can take up an advance driving course few months down the road when u are more familiar with the car [thumbsup]

and do remember, if u want to go all out on ur rex, pls do it in track. we have brothers here going for tracking in pasir gudang from time to time, u can always join them.

cheers [;)]

guys... i do not understand why u all are even replying to this guy...

19 yr old + 1 mth old license + wrx + asking how to drift....

dascrew... u muz learn how to repair cars too... cos that's wad u will spend most of your time doing...

and ur father didn't buy u e wrx to waste even more of his money and definitely didn't spend the 90k to lose a son.

no offence but... spoilt kids just turns me off.

Post: yes ! there are 2 locations for you to learn drifting -

1) the 1st is along Ubi Avenue 3... here's what you do ... rev up your murder machine to 7800RPM, step on the brake n acce pedals @ the same time, simoutaneously turn your steering 180 degrees n pull your hand brake .. your car will drift... if it doesn't, try n try again ... Ubi Avenue 3 is a good place to learn... there are many friendly drift instructors available along that stretch eager to give you personal coaching

2) Along the roads leading to Genting Highlands & Cameron Highlands -- LIKE IN THE MOVIE ! --- u should also try to drive your machine down the slope with u in it before u have a chance to kill any1

god...... ubi near my camp..... got instructors there??/ what u mean? where? comfort driving center u mean>???? i am totally lost dude.... just back from genting recently... man.... every bend has a hump... so no way drifting there...

He's just messing with your head lah! I think that's where the traffic police headquaters is!
