Both petrol and diesel engines should not have any problem with high mileage. In many countries taxis are running on petrol ( eg US ,Canada and even Indonesia ) and in Brazil they are powered by sugar can juice.

Diesel engines are basically designed for slow speed and high torque performance that are very much required by construction machineries and industrial machineries.

Why don't you just bring the car back to the AD and let them solve all the headache for you? They sell the car, they are responsible to fix it when it breaks down.

 

Sure beats shooting half c**k in the dark not knowing what to do, worrying about this and that and having to store the tow service on your speed dial list in future.

I am drivg renault clio 2009 1.6 car. Engine need overhaul or replacement. But then new engine difficult to get except for swap with 2nd hand one. Cost is expensive. I am driving a Nissan Cefiro of about 7 years old.

 

I recently send the car for a top overhaul as the Nissan workshop guy say my gasket and ignition cord got problem. I changed them.

 

However, ever since I overhauled the engine, the engine sound a bit rough, especially driving it for a while. In the morning when I start the journey, it seem okay.. quiet and powerful... however, after driving for about 15-20 minutes, the engine seems to be rough and noisy. It seems less powerful as well.

 

I was wondering if it was due to the polishing of the pistons, etc and thus the car need a "thicker" motor oil.

top overhaul will not even touch your engine piston. Top overhaul usually will change all your valve seals, head gasket, head bolt, spark plug seal should include valve lapping as well. i suspect a shady job done...... top overhaul only overhauling your engine head thats all.

Actually I went to a mechanic shop to check and they recommend a top overhaul. After the job, I still feel it was not right and went to same mechanic and they said they could not find any problem.

 

Then I went to Tan Chong and they too recommend a top overhaul. I go ahead but still could not resolve the problem. Went back to Tan Chong again and this time they say it was the ignition coils and mountings... I changed them but still the problem remains...

 

It seems that Tan Chong could not solve the problem but resort to change the car parts bit by bit, hoping that the problem go away...

 

I have no clue how or who to approach as I do not want to spend too much on a 7 years old car...

I suspect sensor issue or might be injectors. what's is ur car temp when warm?

Actually it all started with the temperature going into the "danger" zone. There was once that the car went dead due to overheating.

 

That where the mechanics said it may have hurt the gaskets and need to do a top overhaul.

 

Now the temperature is okay after all the repairs... but I know the car is not right from the sound of the engine.

Overheat until engine seize? I'm guessing one or more of your cylinder bores got scored by the pistons.

It juz could be poor workmanship during the assembly back of the valve train, timing belt/chain, and etc..

Last time when I felt my car not right was after changing timing belt.

 

Then get another mechanic to check found the timing sprocket not align properly when the last ws put on the timing belt.

Was only slightly out of alignment the engine do really felt different..and it sounded rough too..

Yes, when first use the car after a "long rest", the car sound okay but after driving for a while, it is very rough and the engine don't sound right.

ur description like indicating the engine oil being burnt off till empty?

exhaust tip have traces of wet black oily stuff ?

any leak trace of EO from the drain tray/plug?

 

I thot normal driving if oil too low will show the engine oil indicating light, u do not seen it ?

 

ur last attempt sound like the piston ceased ?

As mention by one of the bro here. Likely you damage the piston and the piston damage your cylinder wall, probably a full overhaul of your engine or just go junk yard find and replace the engine.
