Neutral Newbie

2 years after its official launch in 2004, the car is now going at about 86K. Is this a good buy? I heard that the Superb will be undergoing a minor face-lift with the 2006 version. Comments from existing owners are welcome!

86k is already a good buy now base on current market situation [;)] ...

Maybe you can try to bargain about 2 to 3k below the stated price from the SE dude [laugh] ...

Hi,

Definitely a good buy. The minor facelift is mainly cosmetic. Saw the 2006 Superb model while I was in Czech 2 months back. Here are the following changes:

- Chrome trimming around the lower grille section

- 3 spoke steering wheel instead of the current 4 spoke variant

$86k is the list price. You can get it cheaper.... Check your PM. [;)]

Hi bro,

Actually u shd have waited for a few months more... The current low price runs in tandem with the lower COE premiums. Even before discounts, the list price is definitely below your asking price at that time.

How is your Frenchie? Sorted all the problems in the electronics?

Frenchie still temperamental as usual... [:p]

I've given up on most of the minor faults now, and focusing on getting them to fix my brakes which are very spongy (safety first! I can step it all the way to the floorboard!) and my vibrating engine which I am going to try iridium spark plugs first, then a drop in air filter.

If that doesn't work... very likely may consider Superchips after a good experience with them for my previous ride. [idea]

Just need to check if the chip can override the timing and fuel-air mixture (wonder if that will stop the vibration), cos SA said they cannot change that manually. ...and of course, they said that vibration is "normal"... [confused]

I sincerely hope that the problems on your Frenchie will be solved. Sighz...if u have waited for a few months more, the Superb is definitely within ur budget.

Last weekend, one buyer booked his ride for <$83k.

Just hope that your problems will be solved. Your situation and encounter with the agent are v similar to our previous Volvo S40 ownership. The agent insists that everything is normal and the amount of problems keeps growing.

Well, the service manager and his tech have been quite helpful, and have at least admitted the brakes did seem a little out-of-sorts. Will send the car in soon to let them have a go.

At least that's a good start... Let's just see how they sort out the other stuff now. smile.gif
