wana ask some qn about HID

as we all know HID are divided by its colour temperature of 4300k, 6000k, 8000k.

is the color temperature determined by bulb or the ballast.

meaning if i got a HID kit of 6000k, but i wana it to be more bluish, so wana change to 8000k, so the bulb to be change or the ballast has to be change, or both has to be change.

know about philip is a good one but price wise is too steep, any cheaper and brand which ur haf used b4 to recommend, thanks.

Only the bulb needs to be changed, ballast need not changed

as for cheaper HID kit?? you can get any taiwan ones but they do not last that long in terms of durability but then it oso depends on how long u intend to keep your car as well

hope that helps!!

Cheers!!

Hi, $240 is a little expensive but if it's Philips Ultinon 6000K bulbs, then it's worth it. Those factory fitted HIDs are using 4100/4300K Philips/Osram OE bulb which can be bought on the net like ebay/hidplanet etc..for about $120 ~ $140. The REAL HID uses DxR/DxS size (x can be 1 - 4). Nowadays car uses D2R if you are using HID reflective headlamps and D2S if you are using projector headlamps.

My fren got his Philips 6000 HID done at CK Motor in AMK for below $600. Understand from the boss that it should be around that price, becos depends on how much work need to be done, eg. removing bumpers etc. my fren's ride is chevy optra, and it was quite difficult to install.

was also interested to fit hid on my ride.. but darn, its in the region of hundreds..a couple of light bulbs? for cosmetics, well.. [hur]

anyone knows the reason why its so expensive, special material (like rare precious metal), or just novelty/rarity that bumps up its price?

there was a HID group buy about 3 mths back in MCF, a set for H1 is onli $200 cash and carry..whereas now where can find cheap HID, nt too sure, taiwan brand can get around $299 i heard, but they are not lasting.

korea brand are the 2nd choice, not too bad,

germany or japan brand are too expensive...

Aftermarket HID are never approve....

unless ur car got simliar model but different variation that comes with HID, maybe can smoke thru,

like merc with bi-xenon headlight,

toyota camry 2.4 with HID but not for 2.0,

WRX STI...

HID works when the power source goes into the ballast, and the ballast provides energy for the xenon-gas filled bulb, which lights up. unlight normal bulb which works by the heating up for the filament wires inside the bulb.

given the choice of a philip diamond which cost $70 a pair, and a HID that cost about $300 a pair, i will buy the HID...longer lasting life, 1yr warranty, brighter light.

correct me if i;m wrong.
