What is wrong?

it seems the car can't start when engine is hot........ any parts of the car which involve in car-starting are temperature sensitive????.... fuel line? electrical system? .................

Yeah, it was my first time there at Servo. I trust those people there because of their reputation. Think a lot of MCF people go there. Forgot to add that it was recommended by a friend - Cordoba708...think that is his nick. Just the explanation to the reason why I couldn't start immediately after switching off the engine didn't really make sense to me. I was also exploring other possible reasons.

What's the coolant temperature when the engine is hot? If it's too high, the car won't start, as the ECU will protect it from over-heating. Since you bought the car, what have you done, in terms of maintenance? Changed/replaced anything??

 

A 1 year old car shouldn't have such electrical problems & spoilt water pump. Remove the sparkplugs and look at the condition. Check also whether the plug cables are giving a healthy spark to the plugs.

 

Are your aux belts at the correct tension? If it's starter problem, connect a relay to it for max voltage from the battery. That means your ignition switch is not providing sufficient voltage to the starting system.

Electrical & induction systems are usually the culprits, if the car won't start. That's why I drive a manual. If cannot start after a push, confirm electrical. But then, which one....

Just wandering how the mech know that the temperature sensor was spoilt.

And if the cooling system pump spoilt, you will be driving with overtemp most if not all the time. The temp needle should be somewhere in the middle when warm up.

 

For info the cooling fan will operate even when you off the engine and lock the door. It is in the design.

 

The accelerator does not supply fuel, it is not mechanical but control by wire and input to the ECU to tell the engine the requirement by the driver. Starting and pumping the accelerator is a no no. If the engine does not start easily, off and re-start it and this time crank a little longer until it fires.

 

If engine doesn't fire then there is some problem. My advise is sent to agent if problem persist. Are there any warning light appearing, these are the signal to indicate possible failure and require attention.

When I am driving, the temperature gauge is in the extreme left, not in the middle. The water pump is leaking. Therefore, I just top up with water weekly or when necessary. I haven't changed anything except for tyres, front brake pads, engine oil & top up air con gas. Would really want to change the battery & spark plugs since they could pose problems too.

That's provided the previous owner looked after the car, right? I mean, if the previous owner just knew how to drive from A to B, don't know how to top up water until the indicator comes on, in the long run, wouldn't the car just protest?

That I am not sure at all. Sounds Greek to me...sorry. I brought it to Servo last week for service. Hope they checked all those stuff.

Right now, I am still waiting for water pump & sensor stock to come it. Once it is replaced, let's see if problem still persists.

I asked the mech if it will spoil the car or any of its mechanism inside it if I stepped on the accelerator which cranking it but he said no because the sensor is already spoilt. Was advised not to crank too long.

The only indicator that remains on is the battery light but I read the manual & it states that is normal & it goes off after I step on the accelerator when the engine is already running.

Car is no longer under warranty. Checked with Czech Auto already.
