Stivo Neutral Newbie March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 I do agree with you on "a properly made struct bar can make you feel the difference in steering feel straight away". But what are the changes that cars in sillpore goes above 130km. thas why i said the best bang for buck is still the sways. I am not undermining your knowledge in anyway concerned. Have a great day!! ↡ Advertisement

Conservative Neutral Newbie March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 For oversteer tendency you might wanna go with rear swaybar. But do note this also depends on your driving style. When on the tracks do you enter the apex fast, brake and turn or do you enter the apex slow, half way out of the apex power through etc. Different driving styles produces different results when using a swaybar. Ok thanks to all.. Mine is the soft Altis, no choice but slow in - fast out. Mainly understeer, so far never gotten into oversteer yet !!! Also very unstable when going over uneven roads at higher speeds, the bounciness throws the car out of balance easily. the sway bars wont help on that right ? No choice but springs ? Anyone else have same problem ?

BMW320i Neutral Newbie March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 You might want to go with a stiff setting on rear swaybars. With regards to bounciness, stockers are always behaving this way. They are never meant to be driven with agression so your answer would be a street level coilovers. You may go with aftermarket springs but you will experience accelerated wear and tear to your absorbers. Ride comfort may deteriorate with aftermarket springs. They tend to be more stiff than stock. Conservative Neutral Newbie March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 yup, especially so when i'm thinking about comfort with a couple of kids in the back. Last question, if i went for stiffer shocks with stock springs alone, will that make some of the bounciness go away ? YOu driving 3 series ? Stock also very stiff actually, bordering on painful, guess thats the price of handling performance.
BMW320i Neutral Newbie March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 With shocks you might do away with some bounciness. The 3 series suspension setup is still too soft for me. Even the rex's one is soft. If you get coilovers you can decide the damping rate of the suspension which is the best of both worlds. But pricey ...
Conservative Neutral Newbie March 27, 2006 Share March 27, 2006 wa, you hardcore ma. Yes, was hoping change shocks only might take away the bounciness, but happy to keep the soft springs stock because of the comfort needed ( kids etc )
BMW320i Neutral Newbie March 27, 2006 Share March 27, 2006 Recently I just had Tein SS coilovers fitted. Definitely no improvement in comfort whatsoever even with the damping rate set to the softest.... Too bumpy. Try getting adjustable shock absorbers if any. Jamesgetz 4th Gear March 27, 2006 Share March 27, 2006 do u know if a 4-point underbrace will help in the cornering ability of a car?
BMW320i Neutral Newbie March 27, 2006 Share March 27, 2006 Yes it would but it only increase rigidity and reducing chassis flex. Not much improvement I would say. Coilovers is the most noticeable gains. After that you may look at swaybars, antilift kit, strut brace etc. Beware each mod will alter your handling characteristic. Eg. Over/understeer. Kelpie 2nd Gear March 27, 2006 Share March 27, 2006 Is anti-sway bars = anti-roll bar? Thanks. Regards,
BMW320i Neutral Newbie March 27, 2006 Share March 27, 2006 Anti sway bars.... Anti roll bars .... stablizer bars .... chocolate bars ... they are the same.
Felipe 3rd Gear March 27, 2006 Share March 27, 2006 for myself, i felt a strut bar led to abit more understeer though there's more stability. so i took it out...the other thing is i heard in an accident, the impact will transfer from one side to the other with the strut bar. so in the end, din find much use for it
