Dear all,

Have got a 4" nail stuck in the back tyre of the driver's side. Went to Stamford tyres hoping to get it mend, however, the nail is stuck at the wall. The guy advised that it could not be mended and we need to change our tyres... They removed the nail and sort of like put a stopper. Pump the pressure of the tyres up, in hope that it could last till tomorrow to go back C&C to change new tyres...

Thread life still left 90%.. heart pain....

Is there really no way to mend it? understand that it is safer to change a pair instead of just changing the affected tyres. Is it true?

Appreciate precious advise from bros and sis..

Thank you.

Side wall damage cannot be repaired, only puncture on the threads can be repaired. You can hunt around for a 2nd hand identical tyre (approx 90% thread) from some of the tyre shops. If cannot find then replace the tyre and put the new piece on the rear or let the tyre shop mechanic do the pairing.

Sis, why must go back to C&C to change tyres? [confused] You can actually source from outside like pxx xxxg Tyres ... etc [;)]

Dun fool around with tyre wall damage... normally cannot be repaired..

I have a friend who insisted that a tyre shop plug a punture in the tyre wall. A few months later while driving along a highway bend at just 50kmph the plug suddenly gave way causing the tyre to deflate suddenly... He lost control and the car spinned 180 deg and ended up hitting the concrete barrier...

Advise you to change the tyres it ASAP! and yup its true that its better to change in a pair.

however, there is no identical tyre, only C&C has it.. bigcry.gif

called Justin and he said that it is not necessary to change, the stopper is essential.. unimpressed.gif

cause apparently only C&C carries that particular model.. outside dun have.. if change different model, thread will be different and unbalanced also right...

If your tyre is still 90% left, you should be able to just change one. The difference between 90% & 100% is not that great.

plug? is it something like the picture?

initially, hubby did not want to change, cause his dad say no need, can still continue driving, just monitor to ensure that the pressure do not decrease suddenly, is safe.. I was skeptical, cause i was worried that something may happen..
