Starletgt Neutral Newbie April 5, 2006 Share April 5, 2006 Got a bad experience on sunroof... got into my friend Honda CRX one day, went for a spin, sky getting dark, decided to close sunroof. Sunroof jam... Started to rain very heavily that time was at east coast. Going home to Ang Mo Kio... Rain non-stop ... Conclusion... Car flooded with water... can put gold fish inside already... ↡ Advertisement
Kelpie 2nd Gear April 5, 2006 Share April 5, 2006 But you can shut it when not in use? Aftermarket sunroof usually come with 2 layers of protection, one UV resistant mirror and one roller blind. So it doesn't mean you're exposed all the times mah. Regards,
Genie47 1st Gear April 6, 2006 Share April 6, 2006 What's the point of having it so that you can use it at night? Rather take the lady out and have sex on the warm bonnet.

Steam Neutral Newbie April 6, 2006 Share April 6, 2006 good to have but not a necessity in sg. personally, I don't think it's a good investment base on the $$$ spend vs usage. btw, why is everyone tinting their windscreen and windows??? think about it... spend wisely, bro... Eavr4 Neutral Newbie April 6, 2006 Share April 6, 2006 Actually not really... I'd owned cars with and without sunroofs, really you would miss it one you have tried it... With the sunroof, it adds pleasure to the drive esp. those cool mornings and nights. Personally I prefer sunroof than full cabrios... ALso, in more "advanced" central locking systems eg Benz where there is rain sensors, it actually helps to keep the car cool. eg, during hot day, I will jus tilt the sunroof, the car is much cooler. For Benz, there is an additional feature (the benz I drove in Germany). The sunroof has built in solar-cells which powers the aircon fans. Suppose to keep the car ventilated (roof tilt + fan running) during summer. I always visit during winter so neber tried. EA

Skinky 1st Gear April 6, 2006 Share April 6, 2006 I don't understand why people with no sunroof choose to make all kinds of assumption. So once and for all, to clear all myths and assumptions that all of you have. 1. Installed for half a year, no leaks so far. It's designed in a special way that it sits on top of a rubber as simply as ever. I've tried my best to induce a leak so i can prevent it in the future, but no success so far. It's designed well. 2. Sun roof, yes, for sun to come in. But those who are silly enough to think you will leave it open whole day is really dumb. There is a roller blind that you can close to prevent the sun (UVA/UVB) from coming in. Feeling hot ? CLOSE THE DAMN BLIND. 3. NO !! IT DOES NOT WEAKEN THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE. Have you seen those skeleton chassis pictures before ? does it involve the roof ? NO! Just the A, B, C and the rest of the pillars, those are the things that whole the entire car together. The roof is just a soft metal piece. 4. 3 years motor warranty, 10 years motor warranty. Enuf said. 5. Insurance. You can choose to add an insurance premium for it. It's to INSURE THE SUNROOF ONLY, in case its spoilt, they will pay you the cost of installing a new one ! You can also choose not to add it, just have to add to your log card. It does not affect your main insurance premium. TRUST ME, I just paid for it. 6. Sunroof are for people who choose to do it, simply because they like the air rushing into the car (with the aircon on, the flap acts like an air curtain, the cold air doesn't escape easily, or able to look upwards to the stars whenever they want.). Yes, it looks good too, that's why we do it, because we can afford it and we like it. In fact, ANYONE can afford it, based on interest free installments at PRO RV. Lastly, it costs S$1400. ↡ Advertisement
