Mrmurano Neutral Newbie April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 saw the papers today, they were talking about how it has turned from an ugly duckling to a swan. which do you prefer... for me, i'd like the sylphy more but, i still have doubts on its FC. heard the FC for Sylphy is lower than usual. the honda civic is always a great car, but, i think its too low.. ↡ Advertisement

Tundra Neutral Newbie April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 The cars from Japan are getting better and better. Packed with much more features, closing the gap between Conti. I will still choose Civic for its sportiness
Quantum 5th Gear April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 (edited) if 2.0L Sylphy FC can achive 11 to 12 km/L(as per TC SE) , it can battle with 2.0L civic, but Sylphy will lose on: power:133HP vs 155HP Transmission: only auto vs auto/manual price: 83.5k vs 82.5k(auto)/80.5k(manual) Brake: only front disc vs all disc Sylphy will win on: Weight: 1235kg vs 1282kg(M)/1312kg(A) Electronic: more hi-tech vs less hi-tech Delivery time: soon vs ??? If talk about 1.5L Sylphy, i can't find any point to battle with honda city , may only jan made vs thai made Edited April 8, 2006 by Quantum
Guest66 Neutral Newbie April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 Hi did u say 83K for de Sylhilis?.oops..sori...typo. IF its 83K..I wud go straight for a manual FD Civic.. FC low or not...bekoz de Nissan CVT sucks... Heck.i might throw in a little more n go for a REX or Skoda Superb..which is arnd tat price range..and I don't think Syphy is anymore high tech than de Civic. I know FC is important but sumtimes nothing beats a good driving pleasure... 83K for that?!! what is TanCHong thinking?..
Nutty 4th Gear April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 Sylphy rear is butt-ugly man. I'll take Civic anyday.

If talk about 1.5L Sylphy, i can't find any point to battle with honda city , may only jan made vs thai made Serious? a 2.0L ENGINE with only 133bhp??? this is very bad. this is the standard 7yrs ago maybe. Most japs now has 140bhp and above. Brakes: You mean drum brakes for the rear for 2.0l??? what a shame! You don't find this kind of offering on 2.0l on the road anymore. Even MAzda 3 also switched to disc brakes. My only compliment would be the interior though. Though conservative, it looks plush and comfortable. That's Nissan's strength. As for looks, I feel the front looks slow and clumsy and utterly silly 'gong gong [dizzy]' king of look. The rear lamp looks better, at least has a 'go faster' sleeker look. Firstcall Clutched April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 i find their positioning mind blogging...1.5 and 2.0? which segment are they aiming at? ================================================================================ ========= it is indeed weird to span between 1.5l and 2.0l but I think TC will score well in the Cat A segment with this car. With 2700mm wheel base, they will be able to boast this as the most spacious car in its class. It uses the same engine as Latio. And despite its size, it is only 35kg heavier than Latio premium and 55kg heavier than the standard Latio/Sunny and only 20kg heavier than the highest end Sunny. FC should not be as good as Latio but may not be worse as Sunny since it uses a more modern, higher tech engine. From how well Sunny and Corolla is selling, I guess most Singaporeans won't be bothered by how it looks. This could be a winning product but at 74k? Maybe not yet. For me between Civic 1.8 and Sylphy, Civic anytime. I'll say the new 2.0l Megentis offers better value for money. But it wont win because it is a Kia. Ferrari7 Neutral Newbie April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 Chris Tan(Life!) says the 133hp produced is healthy output for a 2.0litre DOHC. Hahah!! He's really killing me. . . . Even Civic 1.8 surpasses the Slyphy in terms of horsepower and pick-up. Maybe Slyphy is more "tractable" but to me 133hp@5200rpm is still rubbish. Yeah those rear drum brakes are ridiculous for a 2.0 Litre car of today. As far as I am concerned, Nissan is making another one of those big luxury shopping trolleys. Hmmm. . . But surely Slyphy is strong in a certain aspect. Lexus refinement with Vios f.c maybe?
Kanchelsk 2nd Gear April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 the Sylphy $71,500 is too pricey for the 1.5litre model... to me still poor design from nissan-renault alliance... civic still rocks... but agreed the interior is pure class... all wooden finished... does not appeal to younger generation for 1.5litre...
Kanchelsk 2nd Gear April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 in the paper today say the FC for city drive is 9.6l/100km... for 1.5litre ??? is not good... somemore i think they based on best scenario... nissan CVT always poor FC...
Ivan96935sg Neutral Newbie April 8, 2006 Share April 8, 2006 The selphy is like a mini-cefiro.....but with that pricing, I'll rather choose Cefiro or a Camry in 2L.....else a Honda Civic or Accord.....$80 ood k.....many choices already. Selphy?? I doubt I'll part my $$ on that. ↡ Advertisement
