Orixy 2nd Gear July 2, 2007 Share July 2, 2007 Hi Sevnrg, can share where u purchased the 595RS? I've asked all the shops which I knew have Federal tyres but they all say no stock for Federal... even the new authorised distributor at Jurong say no stock... Abba Neutral Newbie July 3, 2007 Share July 3, 2007 2 very diff tyres. R-S2 sidewall much stiffer than 595RS. It also handles better than 595RS. Both dry & wet grip is better. I'll rate the R-S2 much higher than 595RS. It's classified as a track tyre http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m12b0s0p0 I'm just surprised that 595RS has such a high retail price for Twn tyre
Sevnrg Neutral Newbie July 3, 2007 Share July 3, 2007 i agree the sidewall of the 595RS is too soft, almost too comfortable absorping bumps. mainly thats because of the rounded sidewall and the profiles they are available in i've looked up quite a bit in foreign forums Regarding RS2 and 595RS they are actually in the same league and are often compared side by side. dry grip is comparable between the 2 but rs2 is superior in the wet According to may issue of GRM, Above them are in order: RT615 RE01R AD07 . . . . . RS2 595RS looks like i bought the wrong tyre
Abba Neutral Newbie July 3, 2007 Share July 3, 2007 Do take into consideration the effects of temp when reading foreign rpts, what works there may not necessarily work here. Diff tyres respond differently to temp. RT215 & AD07 needs to be watered down between runs in SCCA, R-S2 loves the heat and does not need watering down. The hotter, the better. The bite gets better as the temp picks up. My AD07 started to slide after abt 2 hot laps in Sepang, R-S2 lasted the 5 lap CCT with no issues. You won't want to use R-S2 in Seattle & UK
Sevnrg Neutral Newbie July 4, 2007 Share July 4, 2007 The test was based on a few hot laps around a track though... Hankooks are korean eh and their temps are not quite high either right? oh well i guess i had enough of trying to find "cheaper alternatives" and go for the established tyres
Abba Neutral Newbie July 4, 2007 Share July 4, 2007 Seriously for the price of R-S2 and the grip that it offers. The price : perf ratio is prob 1 of the highest
