Just got a pair to try out today.. so far first impressions it is

much better than my old ST-115s when i first got them.

 

And, was quite surprised that they used a torque wrench to tighten the bolts.. quite professional.. thx robert

Since you know so much about RS2 could you tell me how much is 225/45-17. Where to get it? Hope what you claim is true. I am using both the RE-01R and RS2 on my next PG trip.

U can get fm any Hankook shop. Do check with Robert on pricing as he is somewhere in the forum, I'm not sure of post GST prices

 

I won't suggest mixing RE-01R & R-S2 on the same vehicle even on diff axels. Both tyres have diff construction, compounds and thus behave differently. The way the tyre loads and unloads on the limit is different. It may cause unpredictable behaviour under hard driving in the extreme. R-S2 manages heat very well, the hotter the better. I would expect RE-01R to start sliding first. Both tyre model have diff working temp range, when 1 comes into range the other may be exiting the range; grip bahaviour would vary. As such, the different axels would behave differently, it may cause snap over/under steer when pushed hard to the limit in extreme cases. The car may behave strangely at; fast sweeper T2, T4 off camber rt hander, left-right chacane T7 & T8, 'BMW' corner T9 & 10. I'm not sure how hard you drive

 

Why not scrub off all the RE-01R than switch to R-S2, you will be able to make a more accurate comparison.

Totally agree with you. I do not take unnecessary risk ever since I used 2 different sets of tires on my ride and it became very difficult to drive.

 

In the end, I just forked out that mere few hundreds and changed them completely. At least it is cheaper to spend on tires than on accident claims.

Good show, I've yet to see anyone bring another set of wheels and swap them in PG, in Sepang it's very common.

 

Do some long runs and compare which is more stable esp when it's hot. SO far feedback is R-s2 manages the heat better and stable for track use.

 

Since you drive a WRX, so you joining the Subaru boys on 1 Sep?

Wife is complaining about the noise so

I intending to downgrade to blackbird V8.

Hey Abba,

 

I just fixed my new Volks with RS2!

 

I have dumped the old tires and rims, pity the tires still have about 70% thread left. However, 2 years of the same brand is enough for me.

 

One thing though, it seems to have better road holding when its warmed - like the F1 tires!

Thanks robert for his great customer service... He personally bring down my set of RS2 with his volvo when i only wanted 2 pieces to joo chiat branch.... Somemore raining... Will review more of the tyres when i go for SNSprint...

Tested on normal street driving and tested on a few corners... Really much better than my ST115....

U should get a few sets of rims :

- full slicks

- semi slicks as imtermediates

- wet slick

 

F1 (German) dun cut it on the track, tried it 3 yrs back in Sepang in both dry & wet. Handling was rubbish, vague as hell. U have zero feel of the car.

I feel it is a waste of time talk to you in the forum. You clearly have some commercial interest in getting Hankook to market. Or maybe you are just helping a friend.

 

Dun waste your time trying to take me down in the forum, spend more time pushing Hankook.
