Anyway, Kah Motor charges $12.60 for oil filters when we go servicing.

I heard someone brought in his own oil filter for servicing, and it leaked after a few days. It turned out the oil filter was defective in the first place.

He cannot KPKB coz the part is not from KM. So he gotta fork out his own money and replaced the oil filter + engine oil again.

IMO, I just let KM leech those extra few bucks.

No point saving on a few bucks and suay suay loses more later.

Depends who makes the filter.

Nippon Micro, Denso, Hengst, Mahle or Knecht are very good quality stuff. You got to know who makes what.

There are some filters that are expensive but worth the money like Wix, Purolator or Mobil 1.

Honda filters are usually Nippon Micro or Denso.

I heard there have been changes. Toyo Roki is the latest. Previously was someone else. I know Toyota has been loyal to Denso.

However the oil filter world is very very convoluted. Sometimes, Toyo Roki might run out of filter and Nippon Micro makes but Toyo Roki slaps their name on. Ditto with Denso.

The American side of things already so complicated, I doubt it will be different with the Japanese. The European side also the same, Bosch might make for Mahle and Mahle slap their name on even though the filters are made by Bosch. Same with Knecht or Hengst. crazy.gif

toyota oil filters shouldn't cost more than $8.50 at the stockists....

the smaller ones for vios and rolla should be ard $6.50 for 90915-YZZC5

make very sure they're Denso made...

You can never be too sure it is from Denso knowing how the manufacturers make for each other anyhow and anywhere. Could be Toyo Roki make for Denso and Denso say make by them and send to Toyota and Toyota slap Toyota name on it. crazy.gif

Yes but that doesn't prevent them from commissioning other companies to make for them and slap made by Denso and then slap Toyota name. crazy.gif

Its a weird and crazy world out there. For all you know, cxxxxxe 5W40 could be Esso Ultron! crazy.gif Tetrosyl commission EM to make for cxxxxxe and Tetrosyl slap cxxxxxe name and sell.

I mean even VW has 1 platform for 16 cars! What prevents other people from having one product made by one company and have 24 different names for it! dizzy.gif

Yes. That is important. At least Denso got their standards. They go up to Toyo Roki and say: "OK we need 10,000 oil filters of this and this dimension." Toyo Roki makes. Sends initial batch to Denso. Denso inspects, likes it, passes to Toyota and say we made this how do you like it. Toyota says OK. Can pass, then Denso tells Toyo Roki to deliver the rest of th 10,000.

Business as usual.

I can't imagine if Denso approached some company in Myanmar for the filters. shocked.gif

I have a dissect pictures of Nippon Micro filter. I looks pretty well build when compare to ST oil filter.

Look at how the filter pleat is arrange in the Nippon when compare with ST, the japs arrangement are pretty tightly pack with 3 full length pleat plus 1 smaller pleat. This i assume is to aid the oil flow the filter.
