You also need to take note, cannot adjust side mirror too out till cannot see car body at all. As this will create the inner blind spot. E.g. motorbike ride very close to the side of the car and may slip into the inner blind spot. So all need to adjust is to expose a little bit of the car body can already no need to expose to 1/3 of car body as because of what is mentioned above on the side mirror adjustment .

Not really. There is no internal blindspot. You give it a shot and if doesn't work or feel really got that internal blindspot I buy you coffee.

Adjust mirror too out until cannot see the side of the car will result in the blind spot as reflected in the bottom right pic.

The above is for left hand drive cars cos the post extracted from Canadian source. Better be careful not to follow word for word.

Anyways, this kind of mirrors adjustment not feasible here cos a large number of car park lots are 'reverse in' or 'head in' lots. I use my side mirrors, along with the blind spot convex mirrors to judge the distance between other cars when reversing into lots....sorry mine old car, no reverse cam : ), so that kind of mirrors adjustment and placement would make the side mirrors useless or worst confusing for reverse parking.

Ya, now you mention about parking. Initially when parking with the side mirror adjusted outwards position, I have problem parking straight. But after many attempts and many days driving, parking straight again will not be a problem.

Confusing when parking, yes initially as I am not able to get used to the vision of the mirror. However when I get used to it, not at problem at all for reverse parking.

newer car models have more blindspots than say cars built in the 90s? A-pillars thick thick, dashboard deep, boot high high, window high high, cannot see the front of the car....I feel having mirrors that can overcome all this physical and visual obstruction is ever more important, no doubt modern cars are definitely built much safer.

I am saying this as I am still driving my 18 yr old Civic and I occasionally got to drive newer cars. Perhaps within that short duration of driving I am adjusting still to the new car. But my mechanic also agree with me.

I believe many drivers adjust side mirror like this. This view have big blindspot, adjust the side mirror further out to only be able to see about 1/10 of car body to reduce blindspot.

Wah this one quite exaggerating.. that is like half the mirror looking at your own car.

I only allocate about 10% of the side mirror to view my car and the rest are for the side view.

You will be surprised that many driver adjust side mirror that way. Then say need to install blindspot mirror.

This side mirror looks very small.

With new technologies like side cameras, this probably be a problem in the past.
