Yah.. it's just an indicator. For fun anyway...

If I get those fuel computers, some of them can display the air/fuel ratio too.

For anykind of aftermarket air intake, the whole air box gotta be removed.

One word, CRAMP !!!!!

It's not really that it's too cramp, but you will find that your cone may have to face backwards at the firewall. And heat shielding will be a challenge [sly]

Actually all new Honda engine layout is funny ...

With the air filter box removed, there'll be a big lobang !

That hole will be visible from the wheel well ! Which means to say that even now, without the air filter box removed, I can squat on one side of the wheel and can see the other side ... straight thru .. so most cone filter is placed there to suck in the cooler air.

Problem is, since it's so exposed, the filter will get all the mud/sand/dirt threw up from the wheel :-(

Yeah that's what I noticed about the Stream, CRV and Civic.

The engine bay is very open to the elements on the underside.

So instead of a straight thru exhaust.. you can tell ppl you have a straight thru engine bay! [dizzy]

Doubt I can take a picture of the throttle body....

The 4 intake runner (black plastic) sits onto of the throttle body & intake manifold.

So I think gotta scrap my idea liao [:|]

Maybe u need to switch positions for the battery and air filter box and then use cone filter + heat shield + CAI and hope that the more forward position will allow a higher chance of cold air intake.

I've just tapped up my air intake pipe with aluminum foil (those sticker kind for air con) .... dunno if it'll help....

Here's some pics of Top Fuel cold air intake (open pod) for the Stream 2.0L ...

Note that it sucks air from the rear, which is where I mentioned the wheel arch area ...

Wow, graphite piping! Overkill, man!

But it's still hot air intake, right? Coz the filter's still taking in under bonnet warm air../

your engine bay looks the same as for the DC5 and EP3, pretty much any K20 engine.

There is an AEM CAI for the EP3, try visiting www.ephatch.com to get an idea of what it looks like. Under the DIY section.

But for short rams, they are all pretty much the same, facing the rear. You can try picking up a copy of Honda Tuning Magazine, one of the older issues, which discusses intakes for the Acura RSX which also has the K20.

For mine, I retained the bottom half of the stock airbox, cos it has a pipe to feed in cold air, used a straight 20cm piece of gutter piping and attached a cone to it.

If you are retaining your stock airbox, its the restrictive nature of the airbox design, meant to keep out the noise, that is your bottleneck for now. There is a mod in which you cut sections of your airbox to make it flow better.

I saw the air box cutting mod in www.hondata.com ...

Problem is, it involved non-reversible cutting and the performance improvement is negligible leh ... even on a dyno :-(

Cardinal, I assuming U drives a EP3?

ANyway, can describe more of your mod ?

THe bottom of the air box has a pipe that sucks in air from the grill. However, it's so close to the radiator that instead of pure cold air, I assume it sucks in warm air too.

I am tempted to flip it over such that it sucks in air from the bottom ... but the space is very very limited :-(

IC thought it would be noiser and also might suffer loss in lower end as you be sucking in hot air. But Jap cars are not that bad though [;)]
