Hkfung Neutral Newbie May 3, 2003 Share May 3, 2003 i have similar setup as described...using KNN drop-in air filter. remove my resonator and connect the air box with 2" or 2 1/2" flexible aluminium hose wrapped with insulation material, where the hose opening is at the right bumber area (slightly higher than the fog-light). i feel there is a drop in low-end (<2K RPM) but increased in mid-end (>3K RPM). it cost me IHMO, once the resonator is removed, low-end will suffer as there is no "store" or "ready" air for the throttle-body to draw air. the resonator is there to act as a "air" storage device or some degree of vacuum effect. and again the resonator will restrict to some degree during WTO...nothing is perfect it is always good to direct cooler air to the air box from the bumber area ↡ Advertisement

Typoerror Neutral Newbie May 4, 2003 Share May 4, 2003 i thot the stock air box already "store" air for good low end...resonator has this function too?? ...btw, what really is inside the resonator har...i tried to open it but cannot leh ...think is sealed

Hkfung Neutral Newbie May 4, 2003 Share May 4, 2003 inside resonator has those funnie shape tunnel design which so suppose to draw air and yet reduce the suction sound when i remove the resonator, the engine can rev easier >3K...which is restricted by the tunnel but the roar is there
Typoerror Neutral Newbie May 4, 2003 Share May 4, 2003 oic...no doubt, the removal of resonator will have the less restriction on intake, hence more rev-able...similar to the case of muffler in exhaust system... hand itchy liao...want to remove them.. Vtim 3rd Gear May 5, 2003 Share May 5, 2003 sorry for late reply, you don't need to put a cone filter to the CAI as you already have a K & N filter in the filter box.
Hkfung Neutral Newbie May 5, 2003 Share May 5, 2003 $90-material + labour, cheap rite alex also do grounding, with addition charges. after 6pts grounding, these are the diff that i observe. - air-con colder - headlight brighter - ICE sounds clear - engine bay looks cooler
Typoerror Neutral Newbie May 5, 2003 Share May 5, 2003 was comtemplating grounding...but personally i find grounding wires rather messy...maybe its just me....i prefer a neater looker engine bay..hehe ...no doubt on the benefits though
