BMW320i Neutral Newbie July 2, 2006 Share July 2, 2006 Why make fun of that guy?He likes to do up his car tt's for all he like.. At least he has a passion for rex that he made his TS a WRX-lookalike. Give that guy some credits for it. Not everyone can afford a rex.. Firstly let us just declare that there is absolutely nothing wrong in dressing up a car to make it a lookalike of the superior model. What is ethically incorrect is that you dress it up and rebadge it as the superior model. It is deceiving and the owner serious deprive from his childhood. Zyrofillica 1st Gear July 2, 2006 Share July 2, 2006 ok la. In this world, everything is fair. He may look like the real joe but once you step on the pedal, you will know he isnt the real joe. Rebadge, repaint, modify whatever, think we should not condemn pple if they can't afford the real deal and just want to feel and look like a million bucks while driving a 10 dollar car No offence, only IMHO. Inxs Neutral Newbie July 3, 2006 Share July 3, 2006 (edited) Agreee.... Looks nice, as long as he satisfy his personal needs, the owner of the ride answers to no one else. Theres no need to be critical to other's decision. Edited July 3, 2006 by Inxs
BMW320i Neutral Newbie July 3, 2006 Share July 3, 2006 So "in your opinion" am I correct to say that badging a TS with a WRX Embelm is "OK" ?
Yc86 Clutched July 3, 2006 Share July 3, 2006 hmmm... why doesn't the TS have 4 disc brakes? if they can put in AWD, why not disc brakes? it would make the transformation much more convincing... can just upgrade the calipers to a stock 4pot frm the wrx.. wrx upgrade to brembos.. sti upgrade to.. 6/8 pot like passing down the tradition
Zyrofillica 1st Gear July 9, 2006 Share July 9, 2006 erm, well... making a cheaper product look like the real deal is aok with me. I guess for someone who makes enough to own the real deal will feel disgusted. But you pay for what you get, so if he has the money and time to modify his car to look like or even feel like the real deal i guess he deserves the "head turning" looks though he may not get the performance. AS for those who own the real deal, modifications is in another league (turbo upgrades etc etc)and they pay for the performance so i dun think pple shd get so flustered over seeing a cheaper product of the same brand get rebadged. Valor79 Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 TS & Rex share the exact same body structure in all dimensions (except JDMs & Euros) giving all TS owners a very a good reason to "modify" the looks of their rides. In the subaru forums, many TS owners do this and proudly declare theirs is a TS and Rex Owners are more than happy to chip in ideas. 1)It's perfectly OK to dress up a TS with Rex bodykits as even MotorImage packages for TS comes with Rex HighMount/Sideskirts/Spoilers Rear/Front Lips upgrades and the free stock mats are all STi floor mats. If u are rich u can even pay 2k to change to the allumium rex bonnet to cool your engine bay. Pity the guy who bought a TS with this package and someone sees him with a STi lip and starts calling him a faker 2)It is however VERY WRONG to deceive someone by debaging the 1.6TS & putting WRX or STi in its place. 06 Models have no 1.6 badge so it's wrong too to place a WRX or STi in the empty space 3)Lancer to Evo is still acceptable just don't put the "Evolution IX" badge anyway please
BMW320i Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 I think you need to re-read my post again. I clearly stated making a TS look like a WRX is absolutely "OK". However, the moment one badges a TS with a WRX Emblem, clearly the driver is simply making a fool of himself.
BMW320i Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 Precisely the message I was trying to put across. Back in those days when I did my FMIC, I had to give up and foglights and put foglight covers to cover the cavity. Even I did not have the face to leave the pink "STi" decal on and hence removed them the moment I mounted them on.
Bentwy Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 hey bro. no offence. but I think anyone has equal rights to do anything cosmetic to his/her car. you make it sound almost unethical. just have a good laugh at these pple with their egos and move on.... Zyrofillica 1st Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 Agree with u. It doesnt matter what they put on their car cos their actions doesnt hurt anyone but only aims to backfire on themselves. Maybe cos BMW320i owns a WRX last time brand pride

BMW320i Neutral Newbie July 17, 2006 Share July 17, 2006 (edited) Once again, please re-read my post. I said doing any asthetic modifications to a car is fine. Re-badging the emblem is the only part that is unethical. If you feel that ANYONE has the right to rebadge their car to the superior model, you might want to re-read this thread because EVERYONE other than Zyrofillica don't agree with you. BMW320i Neutral Newbie July 17, 2006 Share July 17, 2006 Maybe you belong to the category of people who purchase the inferior model and re-badge them to the superior model, which explains why you are so hostile towards such a move ? If it were brand pride I would've purchased another one. Or maybe get another BMW or maybe a F430 or maybe a Hyundai Getz. Doesn't matter what make or model you purchase so as long you, I re-emphasise, "REBADGE" them into a superior model, it is unethical. Also it makes a total mockery to themselves. Ever experienced TSes lined up beside you at the traffic light, rev their engine but yet smoked them long long time cause you could already tell it is a WRX from the rear ? or On the expressway when a TS roadhogging lane 1, when you overtake them, they tailgate you, as you drop gear and pull away they couldn't keep up BUT yet, tailgate you again when you slow down and even try to overtake back ? Its embarassing I tell you. Driving an inferior model and pretending to be superior is plain mockery to the owner. I don't stand to lose anything. I just hope these wannabes don't make a fool of themselves. Theres absolutely nothing wrong in dressing up the car to make it look like the superior model. Bentwy Neutral Newbie July 17, 2006 Share July 17, 2006 it's EXACTLY what I'm saying - when has rebadging been unethical??? I have no need to re-read your posts thank you very much. and I'm not exactly the type of person to nod my head in agreement just because 99.9% of the rest of the population says something might be so thank you very much. lack of rights may not equate to being unethical. ↡ Advertisement
