Saw some studded rims[rims with bolts] and kinda like it. Was thinking abt the maintenance part though n those tyre shops were saying 2 things:

1. Never use anything else to wash these kinda rims other than Mama-lemon, not even the best off the shelf well known brands of rim cleaners!

2. Asked how they clean those studs, they say use a brush! Now what brush? How do you brothers with studded rims clean yr rims?

try this... $5 per rim

You can actually use your spray-on paint protection seal on your rims. It works the same way when used on your body paintwork by repelling dirt and grime making clean-up easier. I quote a line from diygurus:- Menzerna High Gloss Acrylic Shield is also an excellent rim protectant. Its greatly helps to reduce brake dust formation. Spray on and wipe off and you will find your next rim wash a much enjoyable task

Hi bro is it ok to use Autosol to polish rims? Will it destroy the clearcoat layer?

Hey just wondering do you guys also clean behind of the rims, as there are lots of brake dust. Or hust clean the expose part of the rims only

Actually, washing the exterior of your car starts with the rim first, to prevent cross-contamination of the dirt and grime of your wheels to your car body.

did i read correctly or bro u typo?? [sweatdrop]

should always start from the top down and never from bottom up...coz all the dirt, sand and dust are collected at the bottom.....u do not want to have ur sponge or towel contaminate with sand and dirt and got ur paint scratched... [sly]

No. I got this from a detailing thread. Washing from top to bottom is correct. But after washing your body, then your rims, you are going to cross contaminate all the road grime from the wheels to your body. That is why they recommend wheels first, then the body from top to bottom.

I have a similar brush from turtlewax, don't recommend it, the bristles are very very hard (bad for polished rims) and my tyre shine + road dust + brake dust will 'stain' the bristles' tips.

So you get yellow brush + black bristle tips and it isn't that effective at cleaning the wheel anyway. Perhaps need to combine with a good wheel cleaning product which I lack
