New SS owners. Any gripe about the car? Is the auto gearbox smooth? I test drove two weeks ago, and found the engine responsive. However, my wife who was sitting behind found the car bumpy. And there's this reverberating sound coming from the air-con. She also found it strange that the SE switch on the radio during the test drive; maybe to drown the noise. Is the noise insulation that bad?

Bumpy ride = stiff suspension with minimal roll when cornering

Comfortable ride = Soft suspension with poor cornering control

The SS is a small fast car with sporty suspension setup so it's not meant to be a very comfortable ride...

Wanna test sound insulation always turn radio off during test drive... then u can hear engine note & whatever sound that is present in the ride [nod]

Sorry I not new owner but it was on my list when shopping for a car.

Swift is a GOOD car! Solid handling compared to it's class. Solidly built. Back suspension for cars like the Swift are stiffer for better handling. Sound insulation is okay to me. this one needs verification from actual drivers.

have a close friend who has owned one for a year. only mechanical thing is brakes squeaked and so they changed the brake pad. met an accident once and dented the bonnet. was expensive cos that time few new swifts on the road so few spare parts.

IMO Swift stock suspension consider very soft liao

Whenever approach hump i rarely slow down

I'll roll over it

Now i'm on after market spring

That's what i call hard

Now whenever approach a hump

I need to slow down to roll over it

As for it noise insulation

I would classify it the best within it group

If you can go over hump without slowing down, then thet Swift's stock suspension isn't "soft", it's well damped. That means you don't get the bouncing movement and neither do you get the suspension bottoming out.

When a suspension is soft, you will feel the car bouncing if you go over a hump at speed. Or you will hear a "thud" sound when you go over at speed.

If you change to after-market suspension to get a stiffer setup, then you can completely forget about going over a suspension without slowing down. Why? Because the bulk of the movement will be transmitted through the setup to car seat.

If you ask me, I rather get a well damped setup that you can go over a hump at speed without the suspension complaining. Only reason to get aftermarket is if you want better body control when you take turns at high speeds.
