Which 2.0L Sedan?

my friend wants to upgrade his existing ride(Hyundai Matrix 1.8) to 2.0L Japan Sedan, running 2k+ km/monthly, doesn't want Korean car again duo to FC

Overall Quality, engine, comfortable, FC, interior/exterior, price etc. IYO, which one is more valuable to buy

My personal choice would be a JDM Accord 2.0 for its price, looks, performance and FC. haha. It looks the best amoung all your choice, price is in the middle, FC is decent and its 1 of the fastest amoung all choices. It looks great for young adults too.

 

Camry have superb FC for its size and shld have the best FC amoung the 5. Looks decent for office workers but not very suitable for young adults. Mostly driven by people at least 35& above.

 

Cefiro looks expensive and is quite spacious in the inside. Nice interior. Its has a look like you either love it or hate it. Doesn't look suitable for young adult like the camry. FC wise isn't fantastic, shld be the worst if i'm not wrong(judging it from a sunny) and 2.0 is the base for a Cefiro, most people opt for the 2.3L V6 engine for a smoother ride. I recommend the 2.3L V6 engine too.

 

Mazda 6 has been facelifted not long ago and it looks is quite appealling. Like the Accord, its suitable for younger adults for its look. FC is decent and it has reasonable power too. Equipment is standard and nothing much special for it. Oh ya, handling is quite gd compare wif the others.

 

Civic 2.0 Si shldn't really be in this cat as it targets a different crowd. If you are into performance, this is your obvious choice. FC shld be wonderful(Like what Honda claims) and shld drink like a 1.8L. I heard it comes wif traction control for the Auto trans so handling gotta be gd. Looks small although its interior shld be big but it doesn't look expensive when comparing wif the other few. When u buy a civic 2.0, people would still grade you in the smaller car league of sunny, maz3, altis etc..

If he is 30++ looking for family car, then definitely camry/cefiro.

 

For younger folks, my vote goes to civic.

I would choose the Mazda 6 for its Japanese reliability. Furthermore, the newer generation Mazda's are of better quality compared to the Accords and Camrys from Thailand.

have you heard of the soon to be announced recall for all Mazda RX8 owners? All cars produced in 2004 to early 2006 may need to have their engines changed.

 

 

apart from that, my vote goes to the 2007 Camry. 2.0 would be decent, however, if he's willing to spend a tad more, he should go for the 2.4 (FC for 2.0 and 2.4 is almost similar as 2.4 would have better power to weight ratio)

I personally dont think that Mazda 6 quality is better that accord or camry although they are made in thailand, just go to the showroom to look at each individual interior plastic quality and you will know the answer.

The Accord interior is pretty well built as seen in the showroom but some of my friends who drive the CM5 Accord complain of rattles, not sure about the new facelifted one though.

 

I wouldn't go for the Thai 2007 Camry since the PI Camry and Accord would be of higher QC standards.

Based on your list, and price no issue, would be the 2.0l Civic. 2.0 Mazda3 would be a good value buy at about 10k cheaper than the rest. But, like the others, I think the Legacy 2.0R should be considered...

i prefer the looks of the thai camry over JDM. and for some reason, after seeing and testing both, the Thai camry seems better. closing the doors also gives me the reassuring thud which is somehow lacking in JDM. interior wood panel tone of thai camry also looks nicer than JDM.

 

i guess it's up to the individual.

As most of the bro said, JDM Accord would be a good choice but personally I think the interior is too small for a 2.0L car. This model is also on the road for quite some time liao, although the face lift just launched early this year.

 

Mazda 6 is sporty and executive look! Dunno whether the engine is reliable and re-sale value is good or not?

 

Civic 2.0L has the best FC but I agreed that Civic is still a Civic in term of comparing to the rest "2.0L" category.

thanks for your comprehensive comments , i am biased on JDM Accord 2.0 too, but worry abt 2.0L engine whether is sufficient for 1.5ton body , indeed Civic 2.0 Si is enterance level of this cat, but its power/weight ratio is the best

yup! even if Civic 2.0L is high end of civic, but in 2.0L cat Civic 2.0L still is a low end car compare to rests
