Oil Change 5w20

If your car can use, go ahead. The main reason being is the flow. You want the oil delivered to where it is needed fast. 20 and 30 are nice. 40 is good if you drive MB, BMW and VW but use the 0W30 if you want to use a 30.

Most likely it can use a 5W30. No problem trying. It's not race conditions you are experiencing everyday. 20wt? It is entirely up to you but I suggest you use 30wt first.

Please read it entirely. rolleyes.gif

What they say is that the 5W20 is used for purposes of meeting CAFE and warranty should your stealer hold you accountable. They also said that using up to 20W50 will not harm your engine. In the end, they said they have 5W20 available if you want to buy from Amsoil. So by inference, it also means that 5W20 doesn't harm your engine. And by nature of the first statement that it is used for purposes of meetng CAFE, then 5W20 is gaining better fuel economy.

It's like reading PM's reply to Badawi. "I am sorry for being insensitive but not sorry for the comments I made."

I using the $29.90 5w30 Carrefour Triplelube, good power & fuel consumption, think it's not fully syn but ok if u flush ur engine every now & den, like flush every 3rd time servicing,AND do change ur oil filter every oil change instead of alternate

Anyone driving a Lancer CS3 using 0-20 or 5-30 here?

Can I use as well?

I am currently using 0-40 mobil.

I always heard of people going for engine flushing.. but from what i read from the net and from my mechanic, new cars of less than 1-2yrs shouldn't be going for engine flushing....

its more meant for older engines... too regular engine flushing will result in piston erosion... and premature wearing of critical engine components... it should be done on a per case basis, rather than of a regular time.. any truth in this?

...simply bcoz it's their car and they can choose what they want to do with it?

Anyway, I have read that OWS engine flush is pretty good.

If you go Autosaver, I tink they will use some kind of engine flush. They did it once on my Cefiro.

Well.. maybe they think Engine flushing is the same as toilet flushing.

Regular toilet flushing is good and clears the toilet bowl. We can't assume the same for Engine flushing. [:p]

Bros n sis,

I've attached the relevant pages on recommended oils and ambient temperatures from my Toyota manual in a separate post:

http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...574416;#1574416

Unfortunately it's in Jap as mine is JDM ride. If anyone can help translate into English then maybe we can show this to our authorised workshop in the event of dispute?

As you can see my car engine is the 1.5L 1NZ-FE which is the same as the Vios I think.
