Toyo 1st Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 oh, looks like this type of tyre is not suitable for your friend's style of driving True. he used to drive aggressively. after the accident he has changed his driving style
Toyo 1st Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 new tyres need to be scrub in for a few hundred kilometers, most will state about 200km - 500km, before the tyres can grip effectively to its capabilities His mileage is quite high. abt 600-700km per week. so the tire has already run in by the 2nd week. Robertoon Neutral Newbie January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 I am glad your friend is fine..... Tyre to suit your driving is very important..but how many people are advise on that??? Also it is important to know the tyre characteristic too....
Russ 1st Gear January 26, 2007 Share January 26, 2007 I always see lots of Singaporean drivers follow the car in front too closely. Gaps of half to 1 second is common - Then they have to brake very hard and blame the tyres for lack of grip. I keep 2 seconds gap and have NEVER jammed on my brakes more than 5 times in my 15 years of driving here.
Zakuii 1st Gear January 26, 2007 Share January 26, 2007 2 sec is like 2 lamp posts apart. If you are driving on the rightmost lane of a highway, you are considered road hogging.

Rickyokc Neutral Newbie January 26, 2007 Author Share January 26, 2007 the v8 is a performance tyre but more base or say balance tyre with comfort n quiet .i saw hankook has some higher performance tyre like K104 Sport,XQ,Ventus Prime,RS2 n S1evo.i think choosing the type of tyre to suit our driving preference is very important. Russ 1st Gear January 26, 2007 Share January 26, 2007 2 seconds is the international recommended following distance. Any closer you are tailgating.
Russ 1st Gear January 29, 2007 Share January 29, 2007 OK each lamp post is 40 metres apart. At 90 km/h, 2 seconds = 50m or 1.25 lampposts. At 100 km/h, 2 seconds = 55m or 1.35 lampposts. So not quite 2 lampposts. Anyway, I think 1 lamppost or about 1.5 seconds apart is still OK. But 2 car lengths (I see many do that) = 10m is only 0.4 seconds - the average response time for humans to see and move the right foot to the brake pedal is between 0.5 - 1 seconds - asking for trouble - seen the statistics when I attended a Defensive Driving Course - the have a machine to measure your response time. 1 car length (I have seen a few do that) = 5m or only 0.2 seconds!! Boogaloo Neutral Newbie January 29, 2007 Share January 29, 2007 As mentioned, I am using Yokohama DB A500 now and must said its not that good. I tried Falken, Bridgestone, Dunlop before. By far, I like Bridgestone most as I personally feel its value for money. I bought at $85 per tyre for my previous car sunny a couple of years back. As you may have seen my postings, please do some research. I was "slaughtered" by Speedway Tyres for Yokohama DB A500 at $130 versus Comfort delgro's better ES501 at $105 per tyre. Sales technique is one thing, overcharging is another. So PLEASE make some phone calls and ask around and don't be a robert like me ok? Good Luck! Vtim 3rd Gear January 30, 2007 Share January 30, 2007 Ah, I'm looking for the most 'value' for money performance tyres with hard side walls and the longest lasting (within the high performance tyres) but not bother about noise
Luckcent 4th Gear January 30, 2007 Share January 30, 2007 Ah, I'm looking for the most 'value' for money performance tyres with hard side walls and the longest lasting (within the high performance tyres) but not bother about noise ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ dont have these types of tires lah.....go for V8....value for $$$$. am using it for the past 3 months, hardly wear and noise level quiet plus good grip in the wet........what more you want........ Tkseah Turbocharged January 30, 2007 Share January 30, 2007 That is your own interpretation.. i agree with Russ on this.. keeping a safe 2 sec distance is not road hogging.. i keep safe distance and maintain same speed with the car in front.. if u wanna tailgate, feel free to overtake me and go tailgate the car in front.. ↡ Advertisement
