The reason for constant stepping on accelerator is not to allow water to seep in through the exhaust pipe. The acceleration will keep the water out of the exhaust. This is possible because a manual car, when u step on accelerator hard, you can still stop it from moving by 'playing' with the clutch.

Auto... hhmm... drive.. free, drive..free gear? Any tips anybody? [gossip]

Rain causes landslide in Sengkang 1219_ss_landslide.jpg Viky,33, homemaker was looking out the window of her Sengkang flat on Tuesday, 2pm (19 December) when she saw this slope cave in.

According to Viky, "this slope opposite the Institute of Mental Health at Buangkok Crescent has slid off due to the prolonged rains and floods in the area."

However, authorities were quick to react as Vicki told STOMP that she saw some men cleaning up the mess at around 4.30pm (19 December

That sounds absurd to me. [:p]

I think with clutch, when driver panic chances that will stall engine is more. [laugh]

For auto cars, I guess have to depend on makes... for mine you can still step on brakes and accelerator at the same time w/o causing stall - Thats with the help of the torque converter.

Logic is same, like how you launch an auto car and perhaps moving off from a slope.

actually it's not needed, before you enter floods, you should already be in the lower gears (you see flood and cars infront confirm slow down mar..) so just watch the accelerators thats all...... thats the thing about Autos, when you slow down, then it will step down in gears. of coz, mine is not CVVT, so the change is pretty obvious to me. What if traffic comes to a standstill? Manual car can clutch in and rev.. but auto car use neutral?

Anyway these few days I heard on radio even got ppl ji tao park their rides at home and take public transport to work. MRT would be the most efficient if not for the fashionable mode of suicides going on [:|]
