Lonewolf Neutral Newbie December 21, 2006 Share December 21, 2006 I dun consider the U-turn a joke. And even if it is, I dun really care. As long as we can breadth a little easier that a price increase has been defeated. In fact, EM has does one better by lowering the price of Ron98 by one cents compared to the rest. Probably their way of getting back at Shell, SPC and Caltex. For all you know, this may have all be just a perfectly executed marketting plan. Does it makes EM looks bad? Not really. Besides like I said, I dun really care.

Primemover Neutral Newbie December 21, 2006 Share December 21, 2006 Media Contact: Eva Ho, Tel: 9617-6234 SINGAPORE, 19 December 2006. From 2pm today, 19 December 2006, retail pump prices for Synergy petrol at all Esso and Mobil service stations in Singapore will be increased by 6 cents a litre for Synergy 8000 and by 8 cents a litre for Synergy 5000 and Synergy 2000. The pump price of Synergy diesel remains unchanged. Synergy Old Pump Price New Pump Price Fuels Inclusive of 5% GST Inclusive of 5% GST System ($/Litre) ($/Litre) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Synergy 8000 1.697 1.757 Synergy 5000 1.614 1.694 Synergy 2000 1.582 1.662 Synergy Diesel 1.310 1.310 Retail petrol prices are affected by a basket of factors including internationally-traded wholesale petrol prices; storage, distribution and marketing costs; taxes; duties; currency exchange rates and market competition. The increases in Synergy petrol prices are mainly due to the higher crude oil and wholesale petrol prices. Following the last petrol pump price reduction on 1 November 2006, crude prices have increased 4% and wholesale petrol prices have gone up by 11% - 13%. We have tried, for as long as we can, to shield our customers from this increase. We have put off raising prices till now as we cannot continue to absorb the increases in wholesale petrol prices. Customers continue to enjoy 6% petrol discount at all Esso and Mobil service stations. Furthermore, holders of Esso MasterCard enjoy an additional 5% petrol discount while those who hold Esso Mobil Privilege Card and Esso Mobil Easipay Card enjoy an additional 3% petrol discount. In addition to these instant discounts, Smiles members obtain a further 5% petrol discount, and those who redeem their Smiles points for instant fuel redemption can enjoy the equivalent of an extra 3.2% to 4.2% discount. ~end~ Media Contact: Eva Ho Communications Manager Public Affairs Shared Services Centre ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd DID: (65) 6885 8275 Mobile: (65) 9617 6234 Email: [email protected] ************************************* If the above reason is true, why would the pump price be reduced again. Alcapone Neutral Newbie December 21, 2006 Share December 21, 2006 Someone told me the petrol is the same whether you use Shell, EM, Caltex or SPC? They buy from one another, if their stocks run dry. Isn't there supposed to be additive used after the refinery process, and the additives used by these companies are different? In the past I'd used Esso/Mobil, and when I switched to similar grade Shell 98, I felt there's more oomph in my ride. Ever since then, I've stayed with Shell. V Power is certainly more powerful, but the petrol burns faster and is a waste on S'pore roads. What's your experience?
Prodigysaint Clutched December 21, 2006 Share December 21, 2006 Thank You for contributing to my pocket.. hehee.. as for EM.. sigh.. if they got guts.. why not just hold on to that pricing.. why must try to lead others estray... weird leh.. hahha
